David Higgins (composer)
David Roger Higgins (September 11, 1938 – August 13, 2006) was a composer and choral conductor. Born in Sheffield, England, he began teaching music at the age of 22. During his time in Sheffield he was the organist of the Sheffield University Church and musical director of Opera 14. In 1974, he was appointed organist and choirmaster of St Oswald's Church, Durham, a position he held until his death in 2006. In 1983 a fire was started in the Organ Loft at the church resulting in the total destruction of the Harrison & Harrison Organ then in the building. This resulted in the design and installation of a new 3 manual Peter Collins organ at the rear of the church (speaking directly down the nave), built to Higgins' specification. Higgins' numerous compositions mainly concentrate on Anglican Sacred Music, although there is also repertoire for organ. David William Higgins (born 1 December 1972) is an Irish professional golfer. Higgins was born in Cork. He is the son of European Seniors Tour golfer Liam Higgins. He was the country's leading amateur by the time he reached 21. Following match play victories over Pádraig Harrington in the finals of the South of Ireland and the Irish Amateur Close championships he decided to turn professional in 1994. Higgins earned £67,000 in his rookie season on the European Tour in 1996 to finish just inside the top 100 on the Order of Merit. In 1997 he broke his left wrist and right elbow in a horse riding accident. On his return, he failed to immediately rediscover his form and dropped down to the second tier Challenge Tour in 1999. He is known for his television roles as Craig Feldspar on ''Malcolm in the Middle'', Joe on ''Ellen'', and Reginald Bitters on ''Big Time Rush''. He also had a recurring role as Harry on the television series ''Mike & Molly''. David Higgins (merchant)
David Higgins (before 1760 – April 1783) was a ship's captain, merchant, early settler and political figure on St John's Island (later Prince Edward Island). Higgins was captain of a fishing boat operating in the Gulf of Saint Lawrence during the 1760s. With two other merchants, he acquired Lot 59 on St John's Island in 1767. He formed a partnership with James William Montgomery, Scotland's lord advocate, to develop this property. Higgins was one of the first members of the Legislative Council but was dismissed in 1773 for lack of attendance. In 1773, he married Elizabeth, the daughter of Boston merchant Job Prince. Higgins operated a store at Georgetown, built a sawmill and gristmill and settled a number of tenants on his property. He was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island and was chosen as speaker in 1779 but resigned in March of the following year. David Williams Higgins (30 November 1834 – 30 November 1917) was a Canadian newspaperman, politician, and author. Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, the son of William B. Higgins and Mary Anne Williams, Higgins moved to Brooklyn with his parents and was educated there. He went to San Francisco, California in 1852 and in 1856 he founded the ''Morning Call'' newspaper, which he sold in 1858 when he moved to British Columbia. He settled in Victoria, British Columbia and was editor and proprietor of the ''British Colonist''. He organized and was first president of the Victoria fire department and was a member of the Board of Education from 1866 to 1869. David Higgins (August 2, 1789 – December 15, 1873) was a politician and judge from the U.S. State of Ohio. He was the Speaker of the Ohio House of Representatives 1826 to 1827. Early life David Higgins was born at Lyme, Connecticut on August 2, 1789. His parents were Rev. David Higgins and Emma (Gelbert) Higgins. His father was pastor of the church at Lyme, and moved the family to Aranelius (now Auburn, New York in 1801.
