David Hidalgo, Jr.
David Hidalgo Jr. (born August 30, 1984) is an American drummer who plays in the punk rock band Social Distortion. Early life, family and education He is the son of David Hidalgo, guitarist and singer of Los Lobos. The younger David began playing drums at age four. Career Hidalgo decided to become a career musician at age 20. He began playing with Suicidal Tendencies in 2002 until about 2007. He also played drums for The Bronx/Mariachi El Bronx (beginning in 2015 on a tour and later in 2016 as a member) as well as its side project The Drips and the hardcore punk band Bullet Treatment with a variety of lineups that also included members of Rise Against, The Bronx, Cancer Bats, Anti-Flag and others. Joining Social Distortion in 2010, he replaced former drummer Scott Reeder, who had been busy with his main project Fu Manchu. Social Distortion
Social Distortion is an American punk rock band formed in 1978 in Fullerton, California. The band currently consists of Mike Ness (lead vocals, lead guitar), Jonny Wickersham (rhythm guitar, backing vocals), Brent Harding (bass, backing vocals), David Hidalgo Jr. (drums), and David Kalish (keyboards). Starting as a hardcore punk band in the late 1970s to the early 1980s, Social Distortion went on a temporary hiatus in the mid-1980s, due to Ness's drug addiction and troubles with the law which resulted in extended stints in various rehabilitation centers that lasted for two years. Following their reformation, the band has shifted its style to a country, blues and early rock and roll-influenced style of punk. Since its inception, the band's lineup has seen significant turnover, with Ness as the only constant member. After years of performing, Social Distortion continues to tour and record music. Charles Allen Ragan (born October 30, 1974) is an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist. He is the guitarist and vocalist of the band Hot Water Music. Ragan has also released a variety of solo material, including a series of 7-inches on No Idea Records, a live album and three studio albums on Side One Dummy Records. Early and personal life Chuck Ragan is the son of former PGA and Ryder Cup golfer Dave Ragan and gospel singer and missionary Geraldine Ragan. Ragan is married. He and his wife have a son who was born in May 2015. Hot Water Music From October 1994 until 2006 Ragan was one of the lead singers for Gainesville, Florida-based punk rock band Hot Water Music. Vater Percussion is an American manufacturing company based in Holbrook, Massachusetts. The company has always focused on percussion instruments, producing drum sticks, brushes and mallets. It was founded by Jack Adams, and is now run by his two grandsons Ron, Alan Vater. Although the company began producing sticks in 1956, it did not officially become "Vater Percussion" until much later. History The first sticks made by "Vater" were made by Jack Adams and Ron and Alan's godfather Fred Maichle in Jacks Drum Shop in Boston, Massachusetts. Jacks was one of the first shops to offer custom models, and began producing custom models for Buddy Rich, Philly Joe Jones and Elvin Jones.
