David Grindley (director)
David Allan Grindley (born 29 October 1972 in Hindley) is a British former 400 metres track and field athlete who reached the final of the men's individual 400 metres (where he placed sixth) and won bronze in the men's 4 x 400 metres relay in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. His personal best for the 400 metres is 44.47 seconds and is the fastest time by a British teenager. The Universiade is an international multi-sport event, organized for university athletes by the International University Sports Federation (FISU). The name is a portmanteau of the words "University" and "Olympiad". The Universiade is referred to in English as the World University Games or World Student Games; however, this latter term can also refer to competitions for sub-University grades students. In July 2020 as part of a new branding system by the FISU, it was stated that the Universiade will be officially branded as the FISU World University Games.
