David Foster
David Walter Foster (born November 1, 1949) is a Canadian musician, composer, arranger, record producer and music executive who chaired Verve Records from 2012 to 2016. He has won 16 Grammy Awards from 47 nominations. His music career spans more than five decades, mainly beginning in the early 1970s as a keyboardist for the pop group Skylark. Early life and career Foster was born in Victoria, British Columbia, the son of Maurice "Maury" Foster, an office worker, and Eleanor May Foster (née Vantreight), a homemaker. Medical career Foster graduated from Harvard Medical School in 1995. He attended school with Neal Baer, a pediatrician who would eventually become the executive producer of '' Law & Order: Special Victims Unit''. As a doctor he worked at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and the Harvard School of Public Health listening to patient's stories and diagnose uncommon illnesses, a skill which he would later utilize as a writer on ''House''. ''David Foster'' is a self-titled solo album by David Foster, released in 1986. The album is mainly instrumental with two duet-style songs featuring rare vocals from Foster himself. This work led to Foster receiving the Juno Award for " Instrumental Artist of the Year" in 1986 and 1987, and a Grammy Award nomination for "Best Pop Instrumental Performance" in 1986. Co-producer Humberto Gatica was also nominated for a Grammy Award in 1986 for "Best Engineered Recording" for this album. Badger (band)
Badger were a British rock band from the early 1970s. The band was founded by keyboardist Tony Kaye after he left Yes, along with bassist and vocalist David Foster. Background David Foster had been in the Warriors with Jon Anderson before Anderson co-founded Yes. Foster later worked with the band on their second album ''Time and a Word'' (1970). Kaye had worked on a solo project by Foster that was never released. The pair found drummer Roy Dyke, formerly of Ashton, Gardner and Dyke, and Dyke suggested guitarist and vocalist Brian Parrish formerly of Parrish & Gurvitz which later became Frampton's Camel (after Parrish left P&G) on guitar. The new band began rehearsing in September 1972 and signed to Atlantic Records. The Warriors (British Band)
The Warriors, also known as The Electric Warriors, were a British rock 'n' roll, Beatles-inspired band of the early 1960s. While the band recorded a few singles with Decca Records, it is mostly remembered because many of its members (most notably Jon Anderson) later became successful musicians in the British progressive rock scene of the 1970s. The line-up included Jon Anderson (later Yes singer) on vocals, Jon's brother Tony Anderson (later Los Bravos member) on vocals, Brian Chatton on keyboards (who would later join Phil Collins and Ronnie Caryl to form Flaming Youth and after that join ex-The Nice Lee Jackson in Jackson Heights), Ian Wallace (later King Crimson and Bob Dylan's drummer) on drums, and David Foster (later in Badger with ex-Yes keyboardist Tony Kaye) on bass, as well as two guitarists – Rod Hill and Mike Brereton. David Kirby or "D. K." Foster (1882–1969) was a prominent Baptist minister, influential community leader in Arkansas and Missouri, and a friend and counselor to President Harry S. Truman. Biography Foster was born and raised in the former community of Pitman, in Randolph County, Arkansas. David Blythe Foster
David Blythe Foster (20 June 1858''1939 England and Wales Register'' – 10 July 1948) was a British politician who served as Lord Mayor of Leeds. Foster was born at Holme-on-Spalding-Moor. A keen Methodist, he was a lay preacher, and volunteered with the Leeds Central Mission. His experiences there led him to write a book, ''Leeds Slumdom''. He ran a dressmakers' warehouse, and from 1893 limited working hours to 48 per week, and paid what he considered to be a living wage. In 1891, Foster was elected as a Liberal Party member of the Holbeck Board of Guardians, but his views proved too radical for the party, which refused to support him the following year. Foster stood down, but ran as an independent progressive in 1894. In 1895, he joined the Independent Labour Party, and stood repeatedly for Leeds Town Council in Armley and Wortley. David John Haskins (born 24 April 1957, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England), better known as David J, is a British alternative rock musician, producer, and writer. He is the bassist for the gothic rock band Bauhaus and for Love and Rockets. He has composed the scores for a number of plays and films, and also wrote and directed his own plays, ''Silver for Gold (The Odyssey of Edie Sedgwick)'', in 2008, which was restaged at REDCAT in Los Angeles in 2011, and ''The Chanteuse and The Devil's Muse'' in 2011. David Foster OAM (born 20 March 1957) is an Australian world champion woodchopper, and Tasmanian community figure. He has held the World Woodchopping Championship title for 21 consecutive years, and is Australia's most successful athlete and possibly the only athlete in any sport in the world to win over 1000 titles. Personal life Foster is married to Jan Foster and has four children. Following his wife's illness, he was forced to quit management of the Australian Axeman's Hall of Fame at Latrobe.
