David Day (Canadian Writer)
David Day (born October 1947) is a Canadian author and poet. He is best known for his books on J. R. R. Tolkien. Day has published 46 books that have sold over 3 million copies. Early life and education Day was born and raised in Victoria on Vancouver Island, Canada. His father worked as chief fireman for area military bases. Day was editor of his high school's newspaper, and also contributed high school sports columns to the ''Victoria Daily Times'', graduating from Victoria High School in 1966. After finishing high school, Day worked as a logger for five years on Vancouver Island before graduating in 1976 from the University of Victoria. Career Day has published over 46 books of poetry, natural history, ecology, mythology, fantasy and children's literature. Day has been a columnist for ''Punch''. David Andrew Day (born 24 June 1949) is an Australian historian, academic, and author. Academic career The son of a weather forecaster with Australia's Bureau of Meteorology, Day grew up in Melbourne and Charleville, Queensland before commencing accounting studies in which he performed poorly owing to his political activity, which included protesting against Australia's involvement in the Vietnam War. After a short period of work, Day returned to his studies and graduated with first-class Honours in History and Political Science from the University of Melbourne and was awarded a PhD from the University of Cambridge. David "Daisy" Day (1951 – 1 May 2015) was an Australian radio broadcaster. He is known for his work in Adelaide, South Australia and for founding the South Australian Music Hall of Fame, also referred to as the SA Music Hall of Fame. Biography Day began his disc jockey career at 16 in Moree, New South Wales, before moving to Adelaide in 1973 to work firstly at 5KA, then SAFM and, in 1995, Triple M. In 2013, Day published his autobiography ''Rock Jock''. Day died on 1 May 2015, aged 63. AMC and the SA Music Hall of Fame Day was responsible for founding the South Australian Music Hall of Fame at the Goodwood Institute in the inner-south Adelaide suburb of Unley, after his friend and colleague, John Vincent, with whom he had discussed the idea, had died in 2009. The Monks, referred to by the name monks on record sleeves, were an American garage rock band formed in Gelnhausen, West Germany in 1964. Assembled by five American GIs stationed in the country, the group grew tired of the traditional format of rock, which motivated them to forge a highly experimental style characterized by an emphasis on hypnotic rhythms that minimized the role of melody, augmented by the use of sound manipulation techniques. David Day (September 19, 1825–1896) was a politician from Minnesota Territory and a former member of the Minnesota Territory House of Representatives, representing Long Prairie, Minnesota. David V ( ka, დავით V, ''Davit' V''; died 1155), of the Bagrationi Dynasty, was a 7th king of Georgia in 1154 before his death in 1155 He was an elder son of King Demetre I. Fearing that Demetre would make his younger son Giorgi an heir to the throne, David attempted a revolt in 1130. Ultimately, he forced his father to abdicate and David became a king in 1154 or 1155. The Georgian and Armenian chronicles are confused about the length and nature of David V’s reign and disagree over the circumstances of his mysterious death.
