David Crowder Band
David Crowder Band (stylized as David Crowder*Band and The David Crowder*Band) was a six-piece Christian rock and modern worship band from Waco, Texas. Their final album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Christian and No. 2 on the Billboard 200 charts. They disbanded in 2012, with David Crowder pursuing a solo career under the name Crowder and the rest of the band, except for Mike Hogan, forming The Digital Age. Name Prior to the album ''Church Music'', the band preferred not to be referred to as "''The'' David Crowder*Band". They explained that they preferred to omit the article, and stated that they "may revisit this issue if other groups named 'David Crowder*Band' begin performing," and may in fact, should that eventuality occur, insert "The Original" in front of the band's present appellation. The compact disc (CD) is a Digital media, digital optical disc data storage format that was co-developed by Philips and Sony to store and play digital audio recordings. In August 1982, the first compact disc was manufactured. It was then released in October 1982 in Japan and branded as ''Compact Disc Digital Audio, Digital Audio Compact Disc''. ''Oh for Joy'' is the first holiday studio album and tenth album overall from Christian rock group David Crowder Band, and was produced by the band as well. The album was released on October 4, 2011 by sixstepsrecords, and has attracted generally positive critical attention. Background and release The album was released on October 4, 2011 by sixstepsrecords, and it was produced by the band themselves. This was the first Christmas studio album from the group. Musical style AllMusic's James Christopher Monger felt that ''Oh for Joy'' echoed the sextet's "winning blend of ambient gospel and ethereal electro-pop." Critical reception ''Oh for Joy'' received mostly positive reviews from music critics. At Jesus Freak Hideout, Ryan Barbee gave the album four-and-a-half stars, and stated that the band did justice to the material of these songs. ''Give Us Rest; or, A Requiem Mass in C (the Happiest of All Keys)'' is the sixth and final studio album and their eleventh overall album release from the David Crowder Band. This album was released on January 10, 2012 through sixstepsrecords. The album charted at the following during the week of January 28, 2012: No. 1 on the '' Billboard'' Christian Albums chart, No. 2 on both the ''Billboard'' 200 and Digital Albums charts. The first single to come from the album is "Let Me Feel You Shine". Musical style ''Give Us Rest'' follows the former sextet's applauded ''Church Music'', in which every track was infused with more electronic textures than used before. Vinyl Record
A phonograph record (also known as a gramophone record, especially in British English), or simply a record, is an analog sound storage medium in the form of a flat disc with an inscribed, modulated spiral groove. The groove usually starts near the periphery and ends near the center of the disc. At first, the discs were commonly made from shellac, with earlier records having a fine abrasive filler mixed in. Starting in the 1940s polyvinyl chloride became common, hence the name vinyl. The phonograph record was the primary medium used for music reproduction throughout the 20th century. It had co-existed with the phonograph cylinder from the late 1880s and had effectively superseded it by around 1912. Records retained the largest market share even when new formats such as the compact cassette were mass-marketed. ''Church Music'' is the fifth full-length studio album and ninth overall by David Crowder Band, released September 22, 2009 through sixstepsrecords. It reached No. 1 on the ''Billboard'' Christian albums chart, and debuted at No. 11 on the ''Billboard'' 200. Recording process The album runs continuously (there are no gaps between the tracks), which essentially creates a 73-minute song, and when the album is looped, it creates a neverending song. To do this the band sequenced the tracks before anything had been recorded so keys and tempos could be finalized. According to David Crowder, "We programmed the album first, forcing ourselves to write from the track up, and then, after the song emerged, we dismantled it, replacing much of the programming with live instrumentation but leaving the fundamentals that the song emerged from intact." ''Remedy'' is the fourth full-length studio album and seventh overall by David Crowder Band, released on September 25, 2007 through sixstepsrecords. A limited edition of the album including a bonus DVD of live performances was released on April 29, 2008. Recording process David Crowder Band began recording on March 19, and chronicled the process through three avenues: David Crowder's Xanga Blog, daily YouTube videos, and an array of live webcams that could be viewed at remedyiscoming.com. The band finished recording on April 14. Critical reception ''Remedy'' garnered critical acclaim from music critics. At ''CCM Magazine'', Andy Argyrakis gave it four-and-a-half stars feeling that the release is "sure to resound with power no matter what the pace."
