David Crockett (wrestling)
David Finley Crockett is an American former professional wrestling announcer and executive from Charlotte, North Carolina. Career Crockett was usually paired in announcing duties with Tony Schiavone, with Crockett providing color commentary and Schiavone providing play-by-play announcing. From 1985 to 1988, Crockett and Schiavone were the announcing team for ''NWA World Championship Wrestling''. David Crockett is remembered for being clotheslined by Nikita Koloff on ''World Wide Wrestling'' in 1985 in Asheville, North Carolina. This led to Ric Flair coming to Crockett's aid and gave birth to the second Flair/Koloff feud (they had a short-lived feud a year earlier in 1984 as the Mid-Atlantic and Georgia territories were merging under new booker, Dusty Rhodes) and their money-making bout at The Great American Bash 1985, held at the American Legion Memorial Stadium in Charlotte. ''AEW Battle of the Belts'' is an American series of professional wrestling television specials produced by All Elite Wrestling (AEW). It is broadcast on TNT in the United States. Only four episodes were originally planned to air quarterly throughout 2022 but expanded into 2023. The series was originally to air on Saturday nights, but the fourth episode aired on a Friday due to a scheduling conflict. The series premiered with a live episode on January 8, 2022. The fourth and most recent special aired on October 7, 2022. As its name implies, all matches on the one-hour specials are contested for professional wrestling championships. Jim Crockett Promotions Inc. is a family-owned professional wrestling promotion headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, United States, restarted by Jim Crockett's son and Jim Crockett Jr's brother, David Crockett. Robert "Bob" Eugene Bruggers (born April 20, 1944) is an American retired American football player and professional wrestler. Bruggers played as a linebacker for five seasons for the Miami Dolphins and San Diego Chargers in the American Football League (AFL) and National Football League (NFL). Early life Bruggers was born on April 20, 1944 in Lincoln, Nebraska. He was a highly decorated basketball player at Danube High School. After graduating high school, he attended the University of Minnesota, where he was a collegiate basketball player before refocusing on American football. John Theodore Wisniski (September 22, 1928 – April 24, 2001), better known by his ring name Johnny Valentine, was an American professional wrestler with a career spanning almost three decades. He has been inducted into four halls of fame for his achievements in wrestling. Wisniski is the father of professional wrestler Greg "The Hammer" Valentine. He held numerous regional titles, including the NWA United States Heavyweight Championship.
