David Cassels
David Cassels (4 March 1859 – 25 January 1923) was a Scotland national rugby union team, Scotland international rugby union player. He was the 35th President of the Scottish Rugby Union. Rugby Union career Amateur career Cassels played rugby union for West of Scotland F.C., West of Scotland. Provincial career Cassels played for Glasgow District (rugby union), Glasgow District in the inter-city match of 1879 and 1880. He captained the side in 1881. He was capped by West District in January 1880. In February 1881, he was capped by West of Scotland District (rugby union), West of Scotland District for their match against East of Scotland District (rugby union), East of Scotland District. International career Cassels had 7 caps for Scotland national rugby union team, Scotland between 1880 and 1883. Administrative career Cassels became the 35th President of the Scottish Rugby Union. Shettleston
Shettleston ( sco, Shuttlestoun, gd, Baile Nighean Sheadna) is a district in the east end of Glasgow in Scotland. Toponymy The origin of the name 'Shettleston' is not clear and, like many place-names of possibly medieval origin, has had a multitude of spellings. A papal bull of 1179 refers to "villam filie Sedin" - the residence of Sedin's son or daughter. A Gaelic derivation suggests "the daughter of Seadna". History Like several of the city's districts, Shettleston was originally a small village on its outer edge, lying within Lanarkshire. Today Shettleston - the heart of a local authority ward of the same name - lies between the neighbouring districts of Parkhead to the west, and Baillieston to the east, and is about from the city centre.
