David Briggs (American Musician)
David Paul Briggs (born March 16, 1943 in Killen, Alabama, United States) is an American keyboardist, record producer, arranger, composer, and studio owner. Briggs is one of an elite core of Nashville studio musicians known as "the Nashville Cats" and has been featured in a major exhibition by the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2015. He played his first recording session at the age of 14 and has gone on to add keyboards to a plethora of pop, rock, and country artists, as well as recording hundreds of corporate commercials. Career In May 1966, he was given the opportunity of recording on sessions for Elvis Presley's album ''How Great Thou Art'' when Floyd Cramer was running late. Briggs continued to record and tour with Presley until February 1977. Briggs and Norbert Putnam opened Quadrafonic Studios in the late 1960s. It was sold in 1976 and Briggs opened House of David. David John Briggs (born 26 January 1951, Melbourne, Australia) is an Australian musician, songwriter and record producer, best known as lead guitarist in the rock band Little River Band between 1976 and 1981, having joined the band when original lead guitarist Ric Formosa left. Professional career In 1976 he joined Little River Band. He wrote their hit single "Lonesome Loser" and co-wrote "Happy Anniversary". Briggs also produced the rock band, Australian Crawl, and co-wrote their single "Hoochie Gucci Fiorucci Mama" with vocalist James Reyne. He produced Russell Morris' ''Almost Frantic'' album and started Rough Diamond Records with Ross Gardiner, a Melbourne-based music writer, which was distributed through Astor Records and then PolyGram. He signed the band No Fixed Address which was one of the first contemporary Aboriginal bands to record in Australia. David Manning Briggs (February 29, 1944 – November 26, 1995) was an American record producer best known for his work with Neil Young and his band Crazy Horse. Early life and career David Briggs was born in Douglas, Wyoming. Briggs left Wyoming in 1962 to hitchhike his way to Los Angeles and Canada, then finally settled in California, the place he would call home for the rest of his life. In the mid-sixties, Briggs began producing in the music business working on Bill Cosby's label, Tetragrammaton Records. One of the first albums he produced was for comedian Murray Roman. According to Briggs, this was the first album ever released with the word "fuck" on it. Working on Cosby's label led Briggs into doing his own production work with artists such as Alice Cooper, Summerhill, Quatrain, Spirit, Nils Lofgren and his band, Grin, and Jerry Lynn Williams. Dave Briggs was a co-host on CNN's '' Early Start'' with Christine Romans, which debuted Thursday, February 23, 2017, and a relief co-host of CNN's '' New Day'', a three-hour morning news show. During the December 19, 2019 broadcast of the show, he announced that he was leaving the show. John Davidson Briggs (7 November 1917 – 16 March 2020), known as David Briggs, was an English educator and headmaster of King's College School, Cambridge. Life Early life and education Briggs was born on 7 November 1917 in Norwich, England, son of Canon George Wallace Briggs and Constance Emily Tebbutt Barrow. One of his godfathers was the Archbishop of Canterbury Randall Davidson. He sang in the Choir of King's College, Cambridge, both as a chorister, from 1927 to 1931, and as a choral scholar, from 1936 to 1939. He attended Marlborough College as a Foundation scholar, and then studied classics and history at King's College, Cambridge, where he held simultaneously an academic exhibition and a choral scholarship.
