David Bouveng
David Bouveng (born 6 February 1973) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1990s. A or , Bouveng played for the Gold Coast Seagulls, Halifax and was a foundation played for the North Queensland Cowboys. Background Born in Brisbane, Bouveng was a Brisbane Brothers junior and attended Padua College, representing the school's rugby league team at the 1991 Confraternity Shield competition in Townsville. While playing for his school, he was signed by the Gold Coast Seagulls. Playing career Gold Coast Seagulls In Round 17 of the 1993 NSWRL season, Bouveng made his first grade debut for the Gold Coast in their 26–0 loss to the Illawarra Steelers. Logan Scorpions
The Logan Scorpions were an Australian rugby league football club from the suburb of Slacks Creek in Logan City, Queensland. Due to financial difficulties, the club ceased operation at the end of the 2002 Queensland Cup season, and merged with the Souths Magpies to form a new team, the Souths Logan Magpies. History The Scorpions made their debut in the third grade of the Brisbane Rugby League premiership (BRL) in 1987. After they made the grand final, which they lost to the Redcliffe Dolphins 4–18, it was decided to fully admit the club into first grade in 1988. However, the Scorpions were never able to become competitive in the higher class of competition owing to financial difficulties not permitting them to recruit the best players available, a problem enhanced by the fact that all of the BRL's top talent had defected to the Brisbane Broncos or other Sydney-based NSWRL clubs. The start of Super League IV saw the emergence of a North East based Rugby League Club, Gateshead Thunder as well as newly promoted Wakefield Trinity Wildcats to expand the league to fourteen teams. JJB Sports Super League III was the official name for the year 1998's Super League championship season, the 104th season of top-level professional rugby league football in Britain, and the third season played in summer. The League format changed in 1998 and the championship became a playoff series to determine the Super League champions, similar to the way the Premiership was played for the previous 23 seasons. This meant the first Final to determine the British champions since the 1972–73 season. The team which finished on the top of the table were, from this season, awarded the League Leaders' Shield, with the inaugural honours going to Wigan. The 1996 North Queensland Cowboys season was the 2nd in the club's history. Coached by Graham Lowe and captained by Adrian Vowles, they competed in the Optus Cup. Season summary After finishing their debut season in last place, there was nowhere to go but up for the Cowboys in 1996. Under new head coach, former New Zealand, Queensland, Manly and Wigan boss Graham Lowe, the club recruited fairly strongly bringing in first grade regulars Jason Death (from Canberra) and Andrew Dunemann (from Gold Coast), former All Black Shane Howarth and New Zealand representatives Se'e Solomona and Whetu Taewa.
