David Bivin
David N. Bivin (born July 20, 1939, in Cleveland, Oklahoma) is an Israeli-American biblical scholar, member of the Jerusalem School of Synoptic Research. His role at the Jerusalem School involves publishing the journal ''Jerusalem Perspective'' and organizing seminars. Career ''Jerusalem Perspective'' Along with Jeffrey Magnuson, Bivin founded ''Jerusalem Perspective'' in 1987 as a monthly, four-page newsletter. Later it became a quarterly, forty-page, full-color magazine. From 1987-1999, ''Jerusalem Perspective'' published fifty-six print issues, after which it transitioned to an online-only distribution format.http://www.jerusalemperspective.com. Cleveland, Oklahoma
Cleveland is a city in Pawnee County, Oklahoma, United States. The 2010 census population was 3,251, a decrease of 0.9 percent from the figure of 3,282 recorded in 2000. History After the Cherokee Outlet opening, a homesteader by the name of Willis H. Herbert established a town named Herbert by opening a post office on the current townsite of Cleveland on October 28, 1893. The Post Office department subsequently withdrew the approval of the Herbert post office. The post office was then moved 100 feet, and reestablished under the name Cleveland, named in honor of then President Grover Cleveland on April 19, 1894. By 1900, the town's population was 211. Jerusalem School Hypothesis
The Jerusalem School Hypothesis is one of many possible solutions to the synoptic problem, that the Gospel of Luke and the Gospel of Matthew both relied on older texts which are now lost. It was developed by Robert Lindsey, from the Jerusalem School of Synoptic Research. The Jerusalem School of Synoptic Research is a group of individuals made up of "Jewish and Christian scholars collaborating in the land and language of Jesus; bringing historical, linguistic and critical expertise to bear on the synoptic gospels." Since the Jerusalem School does not hold to one theory as definitive for the synoptic problem, the Hypothesis label can be misleading. Robert Lisle Lindsey
Robert Lisle Lindsey (1917–1995), founded together with David Flusser the Jerusalem School of Synoptic Research. He spent most of his adult life as pastor in the Holy Land. He is especially known for pastoring the Narkis Street Baptist Church in Jerusalem. His biography has recently been published under the name ''One Foot In Heaven: The Story of Bob Lindsey of Jerusalem''. While rescuing an Arab orphan from the dangerous Israel-Jordan border in 1960 Lindsey was seriously injured after stepping on a land mine which resulted in the loss of his left foot. He was an Israeli New Testament scholar.
