David Birnbaum
David Birnbaum (born April 8, 1956) is a Canadian politician, activist, and former journalist. Birnbaum was elected to the National Assembly of Quebec in the 2014 election. He represented the electoral district of D'Arcy-McGee as a member of the Quebec Liberal Party until his retirement from politics at the 2022 Quebec general election. He was the Opposition Critic for Indigenous Affairs, and was formerly the Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Education and Higher Education, and was the Parliamentary Assistant to the Premier of Quebec. He sits on the Committee on Citizen Relations. Biography Birnaum was born in Montreal, Quebec. Alliance Quebec
Alliance Quebec (AQ) was a group formed in 1982 to lobby on behalf of English-speaking Quebecers in the province of Quebec, Canada. It began as an umbrella group of many English-speaking organizations and institutions in the province, with approximately 15,000 members. At its height in the mid-1980s, the group had a network of affiliated anglophone groups throughout the province. 2022 Quebec General Election
The 2022 Quebec general election was held on October 3, 2022, to elect the members of the National Assembly of Quebec. Under the province's fixed election date law, passed in 2013, "the general election following the end of a Legislature shall be held on the first Monday of October of the fourth calendar year following the year that includes the last day of the previous Legislature", setting the date for October 3, 2022. The Coalition Avenir Québec increased its parliamentary majority in the election.
