David Barden
David Barden is a Gaelic footballer from County Longford, Ireland. He was a member of the Longford county team between 2002 and 2013. He won two O'Byrne Shield medals in 2006 and 2007. In 2011, he helped Longford overcome Roscommon in the National Football League Div 4 final at Croke Park. In 2012, Longford were back at Croke Park, this time for the Div 3 final and again won beating Wexford. He played his club football with Clonguish with whom he won 3 Longford Senior Football Championships in 2003, 2004, and 2009. He also plays hurling with the club and won Longford Senior Hurling Championships in 2003, 2005, and 2006. Longford County Football Team
The Longford county football team represents Longford in men's Gaelic football and is governed by Longford GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The team competes in the three major annual inter-county competitions; the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, the Leinster Senior Football Championship and the National Football League. Longford's home ground is Pearse Park, Longford. The team's manager is Paddy Christie. The team last won the Leinster Senior Championship in 1968 and the National League in 1966. Longford has never won the All-Ireland Senior Championship. Crest and colours The Longford county colours are royal blue and gold. Hurling ( ga, iománaíocht, ') is an outdoor team game of ancient Gaelic Irish origin, played by men. One of Ireland's native Gaelic games, it shares a number of features with Gaelic football, such as the field and goals, the number of players and much terminology. The same game played by women is called camogie ('), which shares a common Gaelic root. The objective of the game is for players to use an ash wood stick called a hurley (in Irish a ', pronounced or ) to hit a small ball called a ' between the opponent's goalposts either over the crossbar for one point or under the crossbar into a net guarded by a goalkeeper for three points. The Longford Senior Football Championship is an annual Gaelic Athletic Association competition organised by Longford GAA among the Senior grade Gaelic football clubs in County Longford, Ireland. Clonguish GAA
Clonguish GAA is a Gaelic football and hurling club in Newtownforbes, County Longford, Ireland. The club was formed on 20 October 1889 and was originally called Clonguish Gallowglasses. Situated in the west of Co. Longford, it is bordered by four parishes in Co. Longford, Drumlish, Killoe, Killashee and Templemichael (Longford) – the parish also shares a common boundary with the Province of Connacht in that it adjoins the parishes of Bornacoola and Gortletteragh in Co. Leitrim and Tarmonbarry in Co. Roscommon. The Irish for Clonguish is ''Cluain Geis'' which means 'The Meadow of the Swans'.
