David Banks (cricketer, Born 1961)
David Andrew Banks (born 11 January 1961) is a former English cricketer who played first-class and List A cricket for Worcestershire and Warwickshire. He also played minor counties cricket (and a few List A games) for Staffordshire and for the Worcestershire Cricket Board team. He made his Worcestershire debut in mid-August 1982 in a John Player League match against Hampshire at Southampton, holding a catch to dismiss Hampshire captain Nick Pocock. Banks did not bat, owing to a first-wicket partnership of 224 between Alan Ormrod (92 *) and Dipak Patel (125) which as of 2008 remained a record opening stand for Worcestershire in List A cricket. That proved to be his only first-team appearance of the season. In 1983 Banks hit a century on his first-class debut, though it was to remain the only one he ever made. David Banks (born December 17, 1967 in Wigan, England) was an English-American soccer defender who is currently the Director of Notts F.C., a youth soccer team in San Diego, California. He was the 1991 Major Soccer League Rookie of the Year and played in the Continental Indoor Soccer League, National Professional Soccer League, USISL and USL A-League. Player Youth In 1983, Banks joined Wigan Athletic as an apprentice He played 79 youth and reserve team games for Wigan over two seasons. Arthur David Banks (13 February 1948 – 22 February 2022) was a British newspaper editor and broadcaster. Early life Banks was born in Warrington on 13 February 1948. He attended the local Boteler Grammar School. Career Banks worked in journalism through the 1970s, and developed a friendship with Kelvin MacKenzie. By 1979, Banks was assistant chief sub-editor at the ''Daily Mirror'', then went to work with MacKenzie at the ''New York Post''. In 1981, Mackenzie returned to the UK, and Banks became managing editor of the ''Post'', but in 1983 followed MacKenzie back to work at '' The Sun'' as assistant editor. He led strikebreakers during the Wapping dispute. In 1986, Banks returned to New York as editor of the '' Daily News'' but, the following year, he moved on to become deputy editor of ''The Australian'', then in 1988 editor of the ''Sydney Daily Telegraph''.
