David Banfield
David Banfield (born April 30, 1979 in Halifax, Nova Scotia) is an AHL and former NHL referee. American Hockey League
The American Hockey League (AHL) is a professional ice hockey league based in the United States and Canada that serves as the primary Minor league#Ice hockey, developmental league for the National Hockey League (NHL). Since the 2010–11 AHL season, 2010–11 season, every team in the league has an affiliation agreement with one NHL team. When NHL teams do not have an AHL affiliate, players are assigned to AHL teams affiliated with other NHL teams. In ice hockey, an official is a person who has some responsibility for enforcing the rules and maintaining the order of the game. There are two categories of officials, on-ice officials, who are the referees and linesmen that enforce the rules during gameplay, and off-ice officials, who have an administrative role rather than an enforcement role. On-ice officials As the name implies, on-ice officials do their job on the hockey rink. The Colorado Avalanche (colloquially known as the Avs) are a professional ice hockey team based in Denver.
