David Arore
David Arore (born 31 January 1974) is a Papua New Guinean politician. He was a member of the National Parliament of Papua New Guinea from 2007 until unseated by a court decision in 2015 and again from a 2015 by-election until 2017. He was Minister for Higher Education, Research, Science & Technology under Peter O'Neill from 2011 to 2014. First term He was first elected to the National Parliament in the 2007 general election, as MP for the Ijivitari Open constituency in Oro Province. Elected as an independent, he then joined the National Alliance Party and was appointed deputy Minister for Education by Prime Minister Sir Michael Somare. When a cyclone and floods hit Oro, he was reportedly "on the ground with the people", "carrying a bag of rice, making tea for people". General elections were held in Papua New Guinea between 24 June and 8 July 2017. The writs for the election were issued on 20 April, and candidate nominations closed on 27 April. The ''Papua New Guinea Post-Courier'' is a newspaper based in Konedobu, Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. It was established on 30 June 1969. Its parent company, The Herald and Weekly Times (later purchased by News Corp Australia), had acquired what had then been the two main newspapers in Papua New Guinea, the three-days-a-week ''South Pacific Post'' and the twice-weekly ''New Guinea Times Courier'', and decided to amalgamate them into one publication. It was the first national daily newspaper in Papua New Guinea. Luke Sela was editor from 1978 to 2000. With a circulation of 41,000, the ''Post-Courier'' is the largest selling Pacific Island newspaper. The paper is majority owned by Rupert Murdoch's News Corp.
