David Altmejd
David Altmejd (born 1974) is a Canadian sculptor who lives and works in Los Angeles. He creates highly detailed sculptures that often blur the distinction between interior and exterior, surface and structure, figurative representation and abstraction. Early life and education Born in Montreal, Quebec, Altmejd earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Université du Québec à Montréal. Altmejd completed his Masters of Fine Arts at Columbia University in 2001. Work Altmejd's sculptures present viewers with an amalgam of organic random objects such as decapitated werewolf heads with graffiti-style Stars of David, towers made of mirrors, plastic flowers and costume jewelry as creative tools for sculptural systems loaded with what he calls "symbolic potential" and "open-ended" narratives. Yeasayer () was an American experimental rock band from Brooklyn, New York, formed in 2006. The band consisted of Chris Keating, Ira Wolf Tuton, and Anand Wilder. They announced their split on December 19, 2019. History Formation The band's three core members, Chris Keating (born ), Ira Wolf Tuton (born ), and Anand Wilder (born ), first came to attention after appearing at the SXSW festival in early 2007. Keating and Wilder had previously met and begun performing together while in high school, at the Park School of Baltimore (the alma mater of fellow experimental musicians Animal Collective). Illingworth Kerr
Illingworth "Buck" Kerr (20 August 1905 – 6 January 1989) was a Canadian painter, illustrator and writer. He is best known for his landscape paintings of the Saskatchewan and Alberta prairies and foothills. Early years Illingworth Holey Kerr was born on 20 August 1905 in Lumsden, Saskatchewan, northwest of the city of Regina. His parents were William Hugh and Florence (Nurse) Kerr. He was one of four children. His mother, who painted in watercolor, encouraged him to draw and paint when he was young. He often depicted animals. In 1919 he entered fourteen of his works in the Regina Exhibition, all of which won awards. His artistic talent was evident, and in 1923 relatives in eastern Canada paid for him to study in Toronto. Dan Cameron (born February 12, 1956 in Utica, New York) is an American contemporary art curator. He has served as senior curator for Next Wave Visual Art at Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), an annual exhibition of emerging Brooklyn-based artists since 2002. He is also a member of the graduate faculty of School of Visual Arts (SVA) in New York, where he teaches the MFA symposium each spring for second-year students. The Istanbul Biennial is a contemporary art exhibition that has been held biennially in Istanbul, Turkey, since 1987. The Biennial has been organised by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (IKSV) since its inception. ''Pee-wee's Playhouse'' is an American television series starring Paul Reubens as the childlike Pee-wee Herman that ran from 1986 to 1990 on Saturday mornings on CBS, and airing in reruns until July 1991. The show was developed from Reubens's popular stage show and the TV special ''The Pee-wee Herman Show'', produced for HBO, which was similar in style but featured much more adult humor.
