David A. Russell (golfer)
David A. Russell (born 6 November 1957) is a retired English professional golfer who played on the European Tour between 1978 and 1996 and then briefly on the European Seniors Tour in 2008. Career Russell was born in Dartford, England, and turned professional in 1976. That autumn he went to the first Qualifying school held at Walton Heath. He was the medalist with a score of 296. Russell played on the European Tour and Challenge Tour. His best finish on the European Tour was second place at the 1987 KLM Dutch Open. He won one event on the Challenge Tour, the 1997 Audi Quattro Trophy. In 1992, he suffered a hand injury that kept him out for eight months. He led the 1993 Heineken Dutch Open at one stage, but eventually finished 19th, two shots over par. Russell played in The Open Championship seven times, making the cut four times, tied for 44th in 1985, T-38 in 1988, T-67 in 1996, and T-24 in 1997. Dartford
Dartford is the principal town in the Borough of Dartford, Kent, England. It is located south-east of Central London and is situated adjacent to the London Borough of Bexley to its west. To its north, across the Thames estuary, is Thurrock in Essex, which can be reached via the Dartford Crossing. The Open Championship
The Open Championship, often referred to as The Open or the British Open, is the oldest golf tournament in the world, and one of the most prestigious. Founded in 1860, it was originally held annually at Prestwick Golf Club in Scotland. Later the venue rotated between a select group of coastal links golf courses in the United Kingdom. It is organised by the R&A. The Open is one of the four men's major golf tournaments, the others being the Masters Tournament, the PGA Championship and the U.S. Open. Greg Chalmers
Greg J. Chalmers (born 11 October 1973) is an Australian professional golfer. Chalmers has played primarily on the PGA Tour of Australasia and PGA Tour. He is a two-time winner of the Australian Open and late in his career eventually won a PGA Tour event, the 2016 Barracuda Championship. Amateur career Chalmers was born in Sydney. He won the 1993 Australian Amateur and the 1994 French Amateur. Professional career Chalmers turned professional in 1995 and made a strong start to his professional career, winning four times in Australia in the next few years, including the 1998 Australian Open. In Europe he won the second-tier Challenge Tour's Challenge Tour Championship, in 1997 and finished 25th on the European Tour Order of Merit in 1998. 1997 Challenge Tour
The 1997 Challenge Tour was the ninth season of the Challenge Tour, the official development tour to the European Tour. The tour started as the Satellite Tour with its first Order of Merit rankings in 1989 and was officially renamed as the Challenge Tour at the start of the 1990 season. The Challenge Tour Rankings were won by Italy's Michele Reale. Schedule The following table lists official events during the 1997 season. 1994 PGA Tour
The 1994 PGA Tour season was played from January 6 to October 30. The season consisted of 44 official money events. Nick Price won the most tournaments, six, and there were 10 first-time winners. The tournament results, leaders, and award winners are listed below. After twenty years as commissioner of the PGA Tour, Deane Beman stepped down in June and was succeeded by Tim Finchem. Beman, a former tour player, became the tour's second commissioner in 1974 at age 35, following Joseph Dey. As of 2018, the 1994 seasons remains the only year that an American golfer did not win one of the four majors when all were held. The Dutch Open is an annual golf tournament played in the Netherlands, and has been part of the European Tour's schedule since the Tour was inaugurated in 1972. The European Tour (currently known as the DP World Tour for sponsorship reasons), legally the PGA European Tour is the leading men's professional golf tour in Europe.
