Dave Smith (footballer, Born 1947)
David Smith (8 December 1947 – September 2022) was an English professional footballer who scored 55 goals from 406 games in the Football League playing as an outside left or left midfielder for Middlesbrough, Lincoln City and Rotherham United. Career Smith was born in Thornaby-on-Tees, Yorkshire on 8 December 1947. An England schoolboy international, he began his career on Manchester United's books, but signed for Middlesbrough as an apprentice and then as a professional. He played only three times for that club in four seasons, and joined Lincoln City in 1968. Thornaby-on-Tees
Thornaby-on-Tees, commonly referred to as Thornaby, is a town and civil parish on the River Tees's southern bank. It is in the Borough of Stockton-on-Tees, North Yorkshire, England. The parish had a population of 24,741 at the 2011 census, in the Teesside built-up area. The town had a royal charter enacted to form a municipal borough in 1892, during the Victorian era, before merging into the County Borough of Teesside in 1968. A borough no longer defines a specific settlement's status as a town in England since the Local Government Act 1972 reforms. The modern centre was built on the north eastern part of Thornaby airfield and lies south-west of Stockton-on-Tees and south-west of Middlesbrough. Grant Brown
Grant Ashley Brown (born 19 November 1969) is an English football coach and former professional player. As a player, he was a defender from 1988 to 2006, notably making 407 league appearances for Lincoln City between 1989 and 2002. He also played in the Football League for Leicester City prior to his move to Lincoln. After his departure from Sincil Bank he went on to spend the last four years of his career playing Non-league football for Telford United, Alfreton Town, Worksop Town and Grantham Town. He returned to Lincoln in 2005 as a part-time youth coach whilst still a player with Grantham and at the end of the season he rejoined the Imps on a full-time coaching basis. Sunday league football is a term used in Britain and Ireland to describe the amateur association football competitions which take place on Sunday rather than the more usual Saturday.
