Dave Reavis
David Craig Reavis (born June 19, 1950) is a former National Football League offensive lineman from 1974 through 1983. He earned two Super Bowl rings with the Pittsburgh Steelers. In 1983 Reavis helped evacuate United Airlines Flight 200 at O'Hare International Airport. After an engine exploded during takeoff, he "ripped open the exit door, stowed it to one side", and led other passengers out of the Boeing 727, a fellow passenger said. In gridiron football, a lineman is a player who specializes in play at the line of scrimmage. The linemen of the team currently in possession of the ball are the offensive line, while linemen on the opposing team are the defensive line. A number of NFL rules specifically address restrictions and requirements for the offensive line, whose job is to help protect the quarterback from getting sacked for a loss, or worse, fumbling. The defensive line is covered by the same rules that apply to all defensive players. The Boeing 727 is an American narrow-body airliner that was developed and produced by Boeing Commercial Airplanes. After the heavy 707 quad-jet was introduced in 1958, Boeing addressed the demand for shorter flight lengths from smaller airports.
