''Dave Mason'' is a 1974 album by Dave Mason and was released on the CBS Records label (a subsidiary of Columbia Records). It was reissued on CD on the One Way label in 1995. This album marked a major change in Mason's sound after his blues rock sound with his Blue Thumb Records releases, blending pop rock and yacht rock. Reception Allmusic gave a brief but positive retrospective review of the album, giving particular praise to the tracks "Show Me Some Affection," "Every Woman," and "All Along the Watchtower." Dave Mason
David Thomas Mason (born 10 May 1946) is an English singer-songwriter and guitarist from Worcester, who first found fame with the rock band Traffic. Over the course of his career, Mason has played and recorded with many notable pop and rock musicians, including Paul McCartney, George Harrison, the Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Michael Jackson, David Crosby, Graham Nash, Steve Winwood, Fleetwood Mac, Delaney & Bonnie, Leon Russell, and Cass Elliot. One of Mason's best known songs is "Feelin' Alright", recorded by Traffic in 1968 and later by many other performers, including Joe Cocker, whose version of the song was a hit in 1969. For Traffic, he also wrote "Hole in My Shoe", a psychedelic pop song that became a hit in its own right. Albert Harry Schmitt (April 17, 1930 – April 26, 2021) was an American recording engineer and record producer. He won twenty Grammy Awards for his work with Henry Mancini, Steely Dan, George Benson, Toto, Natalie Cole, Quincy Jones, and others. He also won 2 Latin Grammys, and a Trustees Grammy for Lifetime Achievement. Biography Early career Schmitt grew up in New York City and lived in Brooklyn until the late 1940s. He bought his first 78 at the age of 10, Jimmie Lunceford's record "White Heat." Schmitt's favorite band was Jimmie Lunceford & His Orchestra. Jules Timothy Weisberg (born January 1, 1943) is an American flutist, vocalist, and record producer. Career In school he wanted to play drums, but instruments were chosen in order of the students' last names, and when Weisberg got his chance, his choice was bassoon or flute. He chose the latter because it was easier to carry and seemed easier to learn. He was a fan of soul music, which had been using the flute in the 1960s. He studied classical music before playing soul, jazz, and pop. His first experience recording was on The Monkees' album ''The Monkees Present'' in 1969. While working as a studio musician, his debut album was released with a version of "Nights in White Satin" by The Moody Blues. Jerome Noel Jumonville (December 5, 1941 – December 7, 2019), better known as Jerry Jumonville, was an American jazz, rhythm and blues, and rock and roll saxophonist, arranger, and composer. He began playing the saxophone as teenager. Jumonville was a musician for albums and television series. Richard Bennett (born July 22, 1951) is an American guitarist and record producer. As a touring sideman, he performed with Neil Diamond for seventeen years and Mark Knopfler since 1994. As a session musician, he has worked with Billy Joel, Barbra Streisand, Rodney Crowell, and Vince Gill. He has produced albums for Steve Earle, Emmylou Harris, Marty Stuart, and Kim Richey.
