Dave Hereora
David Murray Hereora (9 August 1956 – 5 August 2014) was a New Zealand trade unionist and politician. He was a list MP for the Labour Party from 2002 to 2008. Early life Hereora was born in 1956. He was a worker at Affco Meatworks and became a trade union organiser. Political career Hereora was first elected to Parliament in the 2002 election, standing against National's Judith Collins in Clevedon but nevertheless entering Parliament as a list MP. He was Māori Vice-President of the Labour Party. Hereroa served until 2008 as Chair of the Māori Affairs Select Committee. In 2008, Judith Collins won the Papakura electorate. After leaving Parliament Hereora returned to union organising, working with the Service & Food Workers Union in mediation talks at the Papakura Griffin Foods manufacturing plant. New Zealand Labour Party
The New Zealand Labour Party ( mi, Rōpū Reipa o Aotearoa), or simply Labour (), is a centre-left political party in New Zealand. The party's platform programme describes its founding principle as democratic socialism, while observers describe Labour as social-democratic and pragmatic in practice. The party participates in the international Progressive Alliance. It is one of two major political parties in New Zealand, alongside its traditional rival, the National Party. David Cunliffe
David Richard Cunliffe (born 30 April 1963) is a New Zealand management consultant and former politician who was Leader of the New Zealand Labour Party and Leader of the Opposition from September 2013 to September 2014. He was Member of Parliament (MP) for Titirangi and then New Lynn for the Labour Party between 1999 and 2017. He served as the Minister of Health, Minister for Communications and Information Technology and Minister of Immigration for the Fifth Labour Government of New Zealand from October 2007 until November 2008. After the defeat of the Labour Party in the 2008 general election, and the resignation of Helen Clark as the party leader, Cunliffe was appointed the party's finance spokesman and number three on the front bench. Papakura
Papakura is a southern suburb of Auckland, in northern New Zealand. It is located on the shores of the Pahurehure Inlet, approximately 32 kilometres south of the Auckland CBD. It is under the authority of the Auckland Council. Papakura is a Māori word believed to have originated from ''papa'', meaning ''earth'' or ''flat'' (abbreviation of '' Papatūānuku'') and ''kura'' meaning ''red'', reflecting the rich, fertile soil upon which the community was founded. History A village was established at Papakura in the late 1840s by a small group of settler families who sought to farm in the area. List MP
A list MP is a member of parliament (MP) elected from a party list rather than from by a geographical constituency. The place in Parliament is due to the number of votes that the party won, not to votes received by the MP personally. This occurs only in countries which have an electoral system based wholly or partly on party-list proportional representation. Different systems In some countries, seats in the chamber are filled solely in accordance with the share of votes won by each individual party. Thus, in Israel, all Members of the Knesset (MKs) are list members. Under this system, MKs are appointed from lists of candidates created by each party until the party has reached its allocated number. In other countries, a more complicated system is used.
