Dave Cusack
David Stephen Cusack (born 6 June 1956) is an English former footballer and manager whose last position before retirement in 2015 was director of Essex Senior League club Basildon United. A central defender, he made over 500 appearances in a career spanning 16 years. Early life Born in Thurcroft, as a child Cusack attended school in Thurcroft and later went to Wales High School. Career Cusack began his career with Sheffield Wednesday, making his way through the club's youth system and also captaining the reserve side. After making 95 league appearances for the side, he moved to Southend United in 1978 for a then club record £50,000, where he would win the Fourth Division championship in 1981. A move to Millwall followed the following year for £30,000. He moved to Doncaster Rovers as player-manager in 1985, replacing Billy Bremner. Thurcroft
Thurcroft is a village and civil parish situated south-east of Rotherham in the Metropolitan Borough of Rotherham in South Yorkshire, England. From 1902 to 1991, it was a mining community. It has a population of 5,296, increasing to 6,900 at the 2011 Census. History The name Thurcroft has Norse (Viking) roots as 'thorr' means thunder in old Norse, so is probably at least a thousand years old. According to A. D. Mills in his ''Dictionary of English Place-Names'', the first mention of Thurcroft is in 1319. Thurscroft: 'Enclosure of a man called Thorir. Old Scandinavian person's name + Old English word Croft. Until the 20th century, Thurcroft consisted of Thurcroft Hall, the longtime holding of the Mirfin family, and three other farms. Billy Bremner
William John Bremner (9 December 1942 – 7 December 1997) was a Scottish professional footballer and manager. Regarded as one of the game's great midfielders, he combined precision passing skills with tenacious tackling and physical stamina. He played for Leeds United from 1959 to 1976, serving as captain from 1965, in one of the most successful periods in the club's history. At Leeds, Bremner won the First Division (1968–69 and 1973–74), Second Division (1963–64), Inter-Cities Fairs Cup (1968 and 1971), FA Cup (1972), League Cup (1968) and FA Charity Shield (1969). The club also finished second in numerous competitions, being runners-up five times in the English league and seven times in cup finals, including the 1975 European Cup.
