CFNY-FM (''102.1 the Edge'') is a Canadian radio station, broadcasting at 102.1 MHz in the Greater Toronto Area, licensed to the suburb of Brampton. CFNY plays an alternative rock format. Owned by Corus Entertainment, its studios are in Downtown Toronto at Corus Quay on Toronto's Harbourfront, and its transmitter is located atop the CN Tower. Tim Mech
Tim Mech is a Canadian rock guitarist and guitar technician. He is best known as a sometime collaborator with Rheostatics, for whom he was also a guitar tech for many years, starting around 1988. Starting around 1982, he was associated with Ottawa punk rock bands such as Civil Terror, Snuff Maximus and Deep Six. Mech later moved back to Toronto, his home town, forming The Bookmen with Dave Bookman, and working with Rheostatics. Mech is credited on Rheostatics' record '' Whale Music'' and was featured in their video for " Stolen Car". Mech fronts his own band, Tim Mech's Peep-Show, in which he plays the Weissenborn Hawaiian slide guitar and sings. He is also the principal songwriter for the band. Tim Mech's Peep-Show has made two records, ''Cocktails'' in 2001 and ''Topless'' in 2004. Whiskeytown
Whiskeytown was an American alternative country band formed in 1994 from Raleigh, North Carolina. Fronted by Ryan Adams, the group included members Caitlin Cary, Phil Wandscher, Eric "Skillet" Gilmore, and Mike Daly. They disbanded in 2000 with Adams leaving to pursue his solo career. Whiskeytown gradually expanded its sound outside the confines of alternative country while still maintaining its alternative roots. The band released three albums. Ash are a Northern Irish rock band formed in Downpatrick in 1992 by vocalist and guitarist Tim Wheeler, bassist Mark Hamilton and drummer Rick McMurray. Old 97's is an American rock band from Dallas, Texas. Formed in 1992, they have since released twelve studio albums, two full extended plays, shared split duty on another, and have one live album.
