Daughters Of Mother India
Daughters of Mother India is a 2014 documentary film directed and produced by Vibha Bakshi on the aftermath of the brutal gang rape and murder of a 23-year-old medical student Nirbhaya in Delhi on December 16, 2012. For the first time in the history of the Delhi Police, Vibha was able to gain access to the Delhi Police control and command room right after Nirbhaya's death. The documentary throws light on how people’s perception is changing towards sexual assault against women with a focus on the police. The documentary has received numerous awards both nationally and internationally, including from the President of India for Best Film Social Issue in the 62nd National Film Festival Awards. The documentary was screened for over 150,000 police officers in India to gender sensitize the force. Vibha Bakshi (born 23 September 1970) is an Indian filmmaker, journalist, and founder of Responsible Films. She is known for her films that highlight issues of gender inequality. Vibha's most notable films as both director and producer include '' Daughters of Mother India'' and '' Son Rise''. Both films are winners of the National Film Awards from the President of India. She is the recipient of four National Film Awards from the President of India. Himanshu Roy (23 June 1963 – 11 May 2018) was an Indian police officer, who served as the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) of Maharashtra and Joint Commissioner of Police in Mumbai. Indira Jaising (born 3 June 1940) is an Indian lawyer and activist. In 2018, she was ranked 20th on the list of 50 Greatest Leaders of the World by Fortune magazine. She also runs '' Lawyers' Collective,'' a non-governmental organization (NGO), the license of which was permanently cancelled by the Home Ministry for violations of Foreign Contribution Regulation Act. The central government of India accused the NGO of using foreign funds in a manner not mentioned in the objectives of the NGO. Leila Seth (20 October 1930 – 5 May 2017) was an Indian judge who served as the first woman judge on the Delhi High Court and became the first woman to become Chief Justice of a state High Court, Himachal Pradesh High Court, on 5 August 1991.
