"Daughter" is a song by American rock band Pearl Jam, released in November 1993 as the second single from the band's second studio album, '' Vs.'' (1993). Although credited to all members of Pearl Jam, it features lyrics written by vocalist Eddie Vedder and music primarily written by guitarist Stone Gossard. The song topped the US Album Rock and Modern Rock '' Billboard'' charts, spending a total of eight weeks at number one on the former chart. "Daughter" eventually peaked at number 33 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 Airplay chart, becoming the band's first top-40 single. Outside the United States, the song reached number 16 in Canada and is Pearl Jam's highest-charting single in Ireland, reaching number four and becoming their second top-ten single. Pearl Jam is an American rock band formed in Seattle, Washington, in 1990. The band's lineup consists of founding members Jeff Ament (bass guitar), Stone Gossard (rhythm guitar), Mike McCready (lead guitar), and Eddie Vedder (lead vocals, guitar), as well as Matt Cameron (drums), who joined in 1998. The album has been certified platinum by the RIAA in the United States. It was reissued in 2013 as ''The Essential Pearl Jam''. ''Ten'' is the debut studio album by American rock band Pearl Jam, released on August 27, 1991, through Epic Records. Following the dissolution of their previous band Mother Love Bone in 1990, bassist Jeff Ament and guitarist Stone Gossard began rehearsing with new guitarist Mike McCready. The group recorded a five-song instrumental demo tape with Matt Cameron on drums. Copies of the demo were eventually given to drummer Dave Krusen and vocalist Eddie Vedder, both of whom were invited to audition for the band in Seattle. Many of the songs on ''Ten'' were instrumental jams or reworked Mother Love Bone songs for which Vedder composed new melodies and lyrics. Michael David McCready (born April 5, 1966) is an American musician who serves as the lead guitarist for the rock band Pearl Jam. Along with Jeff Ament, Stone Gossard, and Eddie Vedder, he is one of the founding members of the band. McCready was also a member of the side project bands Flight to Mars, Temple of the Dog, Mad Season and The Rockfords. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Pearl Jam in 2017.
