Dateline (Australian TV Program)
''Dateline'' is an Australian television international current affairs program broadcast on SBS. Since its debut at on Friday 19 October 1984, it has focused largely on international events, often in developing or warring nations. In 2015 the program changed its format going from one-hour episodes featuring multiple stories, to half-hour single subject episodes. The series focuses on under-reported stories from around the globe, with a documentary style. It is broadcast on Tuesdays at 9.30pm following Insight, and all episodes are available to view on SBS On Demand. It remains the longest-running international current affairs program in Australia. Current Affairs (news Format)
Current affairs is a genre of broadcast journalism in which major news stories are discussed at length in a timely manner. This differs from regular news broadcasts that place emphasis on news reports presented for simple presentation as soon as possible, often with a minimum of analysis. It is also different from the news magazine show format in that the events are discussed immediately. The UK's BBC programmes such as '' This World'', '' Panorama'', ''Real Story'', ''BBC Scotland Investigates'', ''Spotlight'', '' Week In Week Out'', and '' Inside Out'' fit the definition. Mark Davis (journalist)
Mark Davis is an Australian investigative journalist and lawyer, best known for his work on ''Dateline'' for SBS TV, where he is currently a co-presenter and video journalist. Davis was educated at Warrandyte Primary School and then St Kevin's College in Melbourne. Career ABC TV Prior to commencing at SBS, Davis' background was as an investigative journalist with the ABC TV ''Foreign Correspondent'' and ''Four Corners'' programs. Working on ''Foreign Correspondent'' in North Korea, Davis was awarded the 1998 Walkley Award for Excellence in Journalism for his report on ''North Korea Famine'' and in the same year was awarded the New York Festivals award for coverage of an ongoing news story, ''The Lion of the Panshi''. Anjali Rao
Anjali Rao is an Australian-Indian global television news anchor and broadcast journalist. She starred on season 5 of ''The Real Housewives of Melbourne''. Pria Viswalingam
Anandan Pria Viswalingam is an Australian documentary and film maker. He is a Sydney-based producer, writer and director, known earlier for his work with the Special Broadcasting Service (SBS) network. Viswalingam was born in Kota Bahru, Federation of Malaya in 1962. He was educated at a boarding school in England before emigrating to Perth, Western Australia. After graduating from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts in 1987, his broadcasting experience began in radio, as a newsreader and reporter, specialising in politics and international affairs. In 1989, he moved to SBS Television and worked in news and current affairs, where he presented and reported live-to-air programming. Jana Bohumila Wendt ( ; born 9 May 1956) is an Australian Gold Logie award-winning television journalist, reporter and writer. Early life Wendt was born in Melbourne to Czech parents who emigrated to Australia in 1949. Wendt attended Presentation College, Windsor before graduating at the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Arts (French, Honours) in 1979.
