Dashgin Iskandarov
Dashgin Alamoghlu Iskandarov is the general manager of the production union of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR). Biography Dashgin Iskandarov was born in Azerbaijan's Shemakhi District in 1965. He did his military service from 1983–1985, and after completing his military service, he entered the department for development and complex mechanization of oil and gas fields of Azerbaijan Institute of Oil and Chemistry named M. Azizbayov (now Azerbaijan State University of Oil and Industry). Upon graduating from the institute in 1991, he was qualified as a mining engineer. He later did a PhD. He is married, and has two children. Career He started his career as oil and gas extraction operator on Deep Offshore Platform-5 of “28 of May” Oil and Gas Extraction Department (OGED) in 1991. SOCAR
The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic ( az, Azərbaycan Respublikası Dövlət Neft Şirkəti), largely known as SOCAR is fully state-owned national oil and gas company headquartered in Baku, Azerbaijan. The company produces oil and natural gas from onshore and offshore fields in the Azerbaijani segment of the Caspian Sea. It operates the country's only oil refinery, one gas processing plant and runs several oil and gas export pipelines throughout the country. It owns fuel filling station networks under the ''SOCAR'' brand in Azerbaijan, Turkey, Georgia, Ukraine, Romania and Switzerland. Shamakhi District
Shamakhi District ( az, Şamaxı rayonu) is one of the 66 districts of Azerbaijan. It is located in the east of the country and belongs to the Mountainous Shirvan Economic Region. The district borders the districts of Quba, Khizi, Gobustan, Hajigabul, Agsu, and Ismayilli. Its capital and largest city is Shamakhi. As of 2020, the district had a population of 106,400. In its history, eleven major earthquakes have rocked Shamakhi, but each time it was reconstructed by its inhabitants due to its role as the economic and administrative capital of Shirvan and one of the key towns on the way of the Silk Road. The only building to have survived eight of the eleven earthquakes is the landmark Juma Mosque (8th century CE). History The rise of what became ASOIU is tied to the rise of the petroleum industry in the Baku region. By 1887 the preparatory technical school that would become Baku Polytechnicum was established in Baku. By 1910 it had integrated a curriculum related to the growing oil industry. However, the ratio of Azerbaijanis to non-Azerbaijanis was so skewed that, of the 494 students studying at the school in 1916, only 20 were Azeri.
