Darüşşafaka Society, the first non-governmental organization in Turkish history in the field of education, was founded in 1863 with the mission of providing “equity in education.” Bright and talented children who have lost one of their parents and who have limited financial resources become eligible to study at Darüşşafaka after passing a competitive exam when they are ten years old, and Darüşşafaka provides them access to quality education at international standards. Darüşşafaka High School
Darüşşafaka High School is a school in Maslak Maslak is one of the main business districts of Sarıyer, Istanbul, Turkey, located on the European side of the city. It was formerly an exclave of the municipality of Şişli, though being far north and actually closer to the municipalities ..., Istanbul, Turkey. The school was founded by the Darüşşafaka Association with the name " Darüşşafakar’ül İslamiye" in 1873. This date is disputed, with some sources claiming it was 1872. However, there is a consensus that the school started formal education in 1873 in the Fatih district of Istanbul, on the street named after the school, Darüşşafaka Caddesi, and gained its first graduates in 1881. The school moved to its current location in 1994. Darüşşafaka Basketbol (Darüşşafaka Basketball), commonly also known as Daçka Basketbol or simply Daçka, also known as Darüşşafaka Lassa for sponsorship reasons, is a professional basketball club that is based in Istanbul, Turkey. Darüşşafaka's basketball section, which was founded in 1914, is a part of Darüşşafaka Spor Kulübü (Darüşşafaka Sports Club) multi-sport club, which was founded in 1914. Darüşşafaka is an underground rapid transit station on the M2 line of the Istanbul Metro. It is located under Büyükdere Avenue in southern Sarıyer. Sarıyer
Sarıyer () is the northernmost district of Istanbul, Turkey, on the European side of the city. It consists of the neighbourhoods of Rumelifeneri, Tarabya, Yeniköy, İstinye, Emirgan and Rumelihisarı. Sarıyer also administers the Black Sea coast to the west of the mouth of the Bosphorus, including the neighbourhood of Kilyos. It borders Eyüp to the northwest, Beşiktaş to the south and Kağıthane to the west. Sarıyer has a population of approximately 260,000. The mayor is Şükrü Genç of the Republican People's Party (CHP). In 1930, some parts of the region of Beyoğlu and Çatalca were incorporated into Sarıyer, which also became the district centre.
