Darwin Cubs
Darwin Cubs is a now-defunct soccer club from Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia. The Cubs played as a foreign team in the Singapore Premier League in 1994 and finished runners-up to another Australian team, Perth Kangaroos IFC. The Cubs lost just three games for the season, two of those to the Kangaroos. The club also entered the Singapore league the following year, but had to withdraw mid-season due to financial difficulties. The Cubs' nickname was derived from the club's sponsorship with Carlton & United Breweries, whose mascot at the time was a cub (due to the initials of the brand). When the Darwin side was provided with a number of shirts featuring a cub mascot, the nickname was born and the team decided to keep it. The Cubs were managed by Frank Falzon. Marrara Oval
Marrara Oval, currently branded TIO Stadium under a naming rights agreement (and previously also known as Football Park), is a sports ground in Darwin, the capital of Australia's Northern Territory. The ground primarily hosts Australian rules football, cricket, and rugby league. Marrara Oval was opened in 1991. It has a capacity of 12,500 people, making it the largest stadium in the Northern Territory. However, the ground has a record attendance of 17,500, set in 2003 for a football game featuring the Indigenous All-Stars. Marrara Oval has hosted at least one Australian Football League (AFL) game in every season since 2004 and at least one National Rugby League (NRL) game in every season since 2012. The National Soccer League (NSL) was the top-level soccer league in Australia, run by Soccer Australia and later the Australian Soccer Association. The NSL, the A-League's predecessor, spanned 28 seasons from its inception in 1977 until its demise in 2004, when it was succeeded by the A-League competition run by Football Federation Australia, the successor to the Australian Soccer Association. FAS Premier League
The Football Association of Singapore Premier League was a semi-professional football league competition held in Singapore between 1988 and 1995. The Premier League succeeded the National Football League Division One as the top tier of the Singapore football league structure. It was replaced by the S.League in 1996. The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) entered a representative team in the Malaysian League and Malaysia Cup competitions up to 1994. Cyrille Ndongo-Keller
Cyrille Ndongo-Keller (born 16 February 1974) is a Cameroonian football coach and former player who played as a midfielder. Career Ndongo-Keller grew up in the Yaoundé neighborhoods of Mballa II and Nlongkak. He started his career in Olympic Mvolyé and went on to top-tier team Tonnerre Yaoundé in 1991. While here he represented Cameroon in the 1993 FIFA World Youth Championship, where Cameroon was grouped with Colombia, Russia and Australia. In the summer of 1993 he migrated to Australia where he signed with Parramatta Eagles. After a four-month stint in Darwin Cubs from March to July 1994 he played three seasons in Adelaide Sharks.
