Islamic University
The term "Islamic university" ( ar, الجامعة الإسلامية, ''Jami'ah Islamiyah''), sometimes called madrasah jāmiʿah ( ar, مدرسة جامعة), can be used to describe secular educational institutions that were founded by people of Islamic tradition as well as institutions that focus on teaching Islam as a main curriculum. The word "madrasah" can refer to an Islamic educational institution of any level, while the word ''jāmiʿah'' simply means "university." Mau, Uttar Pradesh
Mau, also now known as Maunath Bhanjan, is an industrial town and the headquarter of the Mau district. It is located in the eastern part of Uttar Pradesh, India. The town is known for its saree industry which is a traditional business and centuries old art of the people of this city. History From historical and archaeological point of views, Mau is one of the oldest places in the region. Ancient cultural and archaeological remains have been found at multiple places in the area giving enough evidence of long history of human habitat in the area. Abdul Haq Azmi
Abdul Haq Azmi (1928 – 30 December 2016) was an Indian Muslim scholar who was a senior professor of hadith at the Darul Uloom Deoband. He was an alumnus of Darul Uloom Mau and Darul Uloom Deoband. His students included Mahmood Madani, Mohammad Najeeb Qasmi and Noor Alam Khalil Amini. Biography Abdul Haq Azmi was born in 1928 in Jagdishpur, Azamgarh. He attended local schools and then Madrasa Bayt al-Ulum in Sarai Mir, Azamgarh. He later studied at Darul Uloom Mau up to 7th grade of Arabic and then entered the Darul Uloom Deoband in 1948 and graduated after studying with scholars Hussain Ahmad Madani, Izaz Ali Amrohi and Ibrahim Balyawi. He studied rational sciences with his stepfather Muslim Jaunpuri, who was a disciple of Majid Ali Jaunpuri. Azmi taught at the Mata'ul Uloom, Banaras for over sixteen years. Habibur Rahman Khairabadi
Habībur Rahmān Khairābadi (also known as Mufti Habībur Rahmān; born 11 August 1933) is an Indian Muslim scholar and jurist who serves as a Mufti at the Darul Uloom Deoband. He is an alumnus of Darul Uloom Mau, Mazahir Uloom and the Aligarh Muslim University. He has authored books including ''The Rules of Slaughter'' and ''The Importance of Zakat''. Manzur Nu'mani
Muḥammad Manz̤oor Nomānī ( 15 December 1905 – 4 May 1997) was an Indian Islamic scholar. Prominent among his written works are ''Maariful Hadith'', ''Islam Kya Hai?'', and ''Khomeini and the Iranian Revolution''. He graduated from Darul Uloom Deoband in 1927, where he studied hadith under Anwar Shah Kashmiri. He held the post of Shaykh al-Hadith at Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulama for four years, and was a close associate of Abul Hasan Ali Nadwi. A founding member of Jamaat-e-Islami in 1941, he was elected the group's Deputy Amir, second to Abul A'la Maududi. However, in 1942, following disagreements with Maududi he led a group in resigning from the organization. Afterwards he became affiliated with the Tablighi Jamaat of Muhammad Ilyas Kandhlawi. Darul Uloom Deoband
The Darul Uloom Deoband is an Islamic seminary (darul uloom) in India at which the Sunni Deobandi Islamic movement began. It is located in Deoband, a town in Saharanpur district, Uttar Pradesh. The seminary was established by Muhammad Qasim Nanautavi, Fazlur Rahman Usmani, Sayyid Muhammad Abid and others in 1866. Muhammad Mustafa Al-A'zami (1930 – 20 December 2017) was an Indian-born Saudi Arabian contemporary hadith scholar best known for his critical investigation of the theories of fellow Islamic scholars Ignác Goldziher, David Margoliouth, and Joseph Schacht. Mujahidul Islam Qasmi
Mujahidul Islam Qasmi (1936–4 April 2002) was an Indian Mufti, Qadhi and Islamic scholar, founder of Islamic Fiqh Academy. He served as the President of All India Muslim Personal Law Board. Biography Qasmi was born in 1936 in Darbhanga, British India. He was educated at Madrasa Mahmood al-Ulum, Damla and local madrasas of Mau, Uttar Pradesh and later joined Darul Uloom Deoband from where he graduated in 1955. In Deoband, he studied under Hussain Ahmad Madni, Syed Fakhruddin Ahmad and Abdul Haffeez Balyawi. Qasmi taught in Jamia Rahmania in Munger and established Islamic Fiqh Academy in 1989.
