Darren Smith (born 9 February 1965) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Port Adelaide Football Club in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL) and Adelaide Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Port Adelaide (1984–1990) Smith arrived in Adelaide from the Eyre Peninsula and after playing under-age football, he broke into the Port Adelaide seniors in 1984. He topped Port's goal-kicking in 1986 and 1987, with 49 and 71 goals respectively, ending the sequence of nine leading goal-kicker awards from Tim Evans. Essendon acquired the centre half forward's services when they picked him up with pick 11 in the 1989 VFL Draft but the move didn't work out and he resumed at Port Adelaide. Darren Campbell Smith (born 14 November 1973) is a former New Zealand field hockey player, who earned his first cap for the national team, nicknamed ''The Black Sticks'', in 1995 against Spain. He represented New Zealand at the 2004 Summer Olympics. Smith is currently the Head Coach of the Black Sticks a role he has had since 2017. During his time in charge of the side they have earned a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games in the Gold Coast in 2018. He played at two Commonwealth Games, in 1998 and 2002, winning a silver medal at the latter. His career further spans two World Cups. Smith resides in Auckland. Darren Smith (born 4 June 1980, in Edinburgh) is a Scottish former professional footballer and coach, currently with Bonnyrigg Rose. Smith has previously played for Berwick Rangers, Brechin City, Raith Rovers, Alloa Athletic, East Fife, Arbroath and Stirling Albion in the SPFL. Smith has also managed Tranent Juniors, Dalkeith Thistle and Newtongrange Star. Career Smith started his senior career at Berwick Rangers before signing for Brechin City in 2005. Darren Smith (born 6 December 1986) is a Scottish footballer who plays for East of Scotland League side Dunbar United F.C. . Smith, who began his career with Hibernian, signed for Airdrie United in 2007. He was part of the Airdrie side who won the Scottish Challenge Cup in 2008. Smith was dropped by manager Kenny Black soon afterwards, but was recalled when it was announced that Steven McDougall and Joe Cardle had signed pre-contract agreements with Dunfermline. Early life and education Smith was born to Gordon Smith, who worked at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, and Renee Corey Smith. Smith attended New York University (NYU), where he received a degree in music. Career Repo! The Genetic Opera In the late 1990s, Smith met Terrance Zdunich in an acting class. The pair would collaborate on 10-minute operas at rock clubs around Los Angeles, where Smith would play many of the instruments and Zdunich would perform many of the acting roles.
