Darrell Whitmore
Darrell Lamont Whitmore (born November 18, 1968) is an American former professional baseball player for the Cleveland Indians and Florida Marlins of Major League Baseball (MLB) and was a college football and baseball player for the West Virginia Mountaineers. Career College career Darrell Whitmore played football and baseball at West Virginia University. Whitemore started his football career in 1988 as a freshman free safety. He was a standout throughout the Mountaineers' undefeated season until he broke his leg in West Virginia's final regular season game against Syracuse University. His injury was one of the factors in West Virginia's loss to the University of Notre Dame in the 1989 Fiesta Bowl. Whitmore's freshman season ended with 61 tackles, two fumble recoveries, one forced fumble, and four interceptions. Outfielder
An outfielder is a person playing in one of the three defensive positions in baseball or softball, farthest from the batter. These defenders are the left fielder, the center fielder, and the right fielder. As an outfielder, their duty is to catch fly balls and ground balls then to return them to the infield for the out or before the runner advances, if there are any runners on the bases. As an outfielder, they normally play behind the six players located in the field. By convention, each of the nine defensive positions in baseball is numbered. The outfield positions are 7 (left field), 8 (center field) and 9 (right field). These numbers are shorthand designations useful in baseball scorekeeping and are not necessarily the same as the squad numbers worn on player uniforms. 1990 Major League Baseball Draft
The 1990 Major League Baseball (MLB) Draft was held in June 1990. The draft placed amateur baseball players onto major league teams. 1,487 players were distributed to 26 teams. The draft consisted of first round selections, supplemental first round selections, compensation picks, and many more rounds, in fact, it went a record 101 rounds with 40 first round selections. American expatriate players began to steadily find spots on Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) rosters in the 1960s.
