Darko Filipović
Darko Filipović ( Serbian: Дарко Филиповић; born 21 February 1981) is a Serbian turbo-folk singer born in Leskovac, south Serbia, who became famous after becoming a finalist in the first season of the music show Zvezde Granda in 2004. Filipović grew up in Leskovac, Serbia, and lived there until 2003, when he moved to Belgrade. Before competing in Zvezde Granda, Filipović was singing at typical Serbian night clubs on water called "Splavovi". His success in the competition Zvezde Granda gave him a lot of fame and attention from people from former Yugoslavia. His most famous song is his debut single "Ona Ona". Filipović is currently signed with the record label Grand Production Grand Production ( sr, Гранд продукција) is a Serbian record label and production company predominantly focused on folk performers. Pop-folk
Turbo-folk (sometimes referred as pop-folk or popular folk) is subgenre of contemporary pop music with its origins in Serbia, that initially developed during the 1980s and 1990s, with similar music styles in Bulgaria (chalga), Romania (manele) and Albania (tallava). It is a fusion genre of popular music, blending Serbian folk music with other genres: such as pop, rock, electronic and some hip-hop. Background and characteristics Turbo-folk music emerged as a subculture in the countryside during the 1970s before migrating to the city in the '80s and eventually reaching further expansion in the '90s during the rule of Slobodan Milošević, Yugoslav Wars, inflation and political isolation. Grand Production ( sr, Гранд продукција) is a Serbian record label and production company predominantly focused on folk performers. The label produces the weekly television show ''Grand Parada'', launched their own cable television channel, and organize a competitive festival of pop-folk and turbo-folk music, Grand Festival. TV shows Since its founding in 1998, the label has produced the weekly television variety show ''Grand Parada'' (or Zvezda Granda), to serve as a showcase for Grand Production's artists. It aired on the Serbian network Pink TV until 2014, when Grand launched their own cable channel, Grand TV, through a contract with United Group. They have a full programming schedule, and also air shows on Prva Srpska Televizija in Serbia and Montenegro, Nova BH in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and on Kanal 5 in North Macedonia.
