Dark Flag
''Dark Flag'' is the fourth studio album by American metalcore band Phinehas. The album was released on November 17, 2017, through Solid State Records, the band's first release through the label. It was produced by Matt Goldman and Daniel Gailey, the band's guitarist. Composition ''Dark Flag'' is a concept album about human rights abuse in North Korea. Originally, the band recorded the album in four with Sean McCulloch on vocals, Daniel Gailey on guitar, Bryce Kelley on bass, and Lee Humerian on drums. However, Humerian left the band during production of the record while they were also on tour. Gailey produced the album with Matt Goldman (Underoath, Copeland, The Chariot). Track 10, "Communion for Ravens", features guest vocals from Jimmy Ryan of Haste the Day. Phinehas is an American metalcore band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 2001. The group consists of vocalist Sean McCulloch, guitarist Daniel Gailey, bassist Bryce Kelley and drummer Isaiah Perez. They are currently signed to Solid State Records and have released five studio albums. Their most recent studio album, '' The Fire Itself'', was released on August 27, 2021. The Chariot (band)
The Chariot was an American hardcore punk band from Douglasville, Georgia, that existed from 2003 to 2013. The last lineup consisted of drummer David Kennedy, vocalist and bandleader Josh Scogin, and guitarists Brandon Henderson and Stephen Harrison. The band experienced frequent lineup changes since its inception, with Scogin being the only original member. The band played an abrasive style of metalcore that did not adhere to typical stylings popular among their contemporaries such as melodic/abrasive dynamics and harmonic vocals. They built a reputation around their powerful live performances, with Scogin's lyrics covering topics like materialism, personal struggle, current events, politics, and Christian themes. The band was formed by Scogin shortly after he left his position of vocalist in Norma Jean. According to the Hebrew Bible, Phinehas or Phineas (; , ''Phinees'', ) was a priest during the Israelites' Exodus journey. The grandson of Aaron and son of Eleazar, the High Priests (), he distinguished himself as a youth at Shittim with his zeal against the heresy of Peor. Displeased with the immorality with which the Moabites and Midianites had successfully tempted the Israelites () to inter-marry and to worship Baal-peor, Phinehas personally executed an Israelite man and a Midianite woman while they were together in the man's tent, running a javelin or spear through the man and the belly of the woman, bringing to an end the plague sent by God to punish the Israelites for sexually intermingling with the Midianites. Haste the Day was an American metalcore band formed in Carmel, Indiana in 2001 and signed to Solid State Records. Their name is derived from a lyric in the hymn " It Is Well with My Soul" by Horatio Spafford. The band released an EP titled ''That They May Know You'', in 2002, followed by five studio albums: '' Burning Bridges'' (2004), '' When Everything Falls'' (2005), '' Pressure the Hinges'' (2007), '' Dreamer'' (2008), and ''Attack of the Wolf King'' (2010).
