Dark Arts (album)
''Dark Arts'' is the second studio album by The Killers bassist Mark Stoermer. It was released through his label, St. August Records on August 5, 2016. “Spare the Ones that Weep” was the first single released on July 22, 2016 followed shortly by “Are Your Stars Out?” on July 29, 2016, which was featured on Billboard’s website. Background, development and recording Stoermer wrote "Pretend Song" with the help of his friend Merkley by playing Ping-Song. Inspired by this process, Stoermer went on to write the rest of the album on his own, and sometimes with the help of longtime friend and co-producer, David Hopkins. By the end of 2015 writing for the record was finished. The album was recorded from July 2015 to October of the same year at Battle Born Studios and Studio at the Palms in Las Vegas. Mark August Stoermer (born June 28, 1977) is an American musician and songwriter. He is best known as the bassist for the rock band the Killers, with whom he has recorded six studio albums. In addition to his work with the Killers, Stoermer has released three solo albums, '' ''Another Life'''' in 2011, '' Dark Arts'' in 2016, and ''Filthy Apes and Lions'' in 2017. Battle Born Studios, located in the Las Vegas Valley, Nevada, is a recording studio owned by rock band The Killers. History Established in the late 1990s as Studio Vegas, the studio was taken over by The Killers in 2008. The studio was opened to all artists on August 26, 2009. Palms Casino Resort is a hotel and casino located near the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada, United States. It is owned and operated by the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians. It includes 703 rooms and a casino. It was originally owned by the Maloof family, and was primarily overseen by George Maloof. He purchased the site in 1997, and construction began three years later. David Hopkins (musician)
David Hopkins (born 18 January 1971) is an Irish singer-songwriter and producer, originally from Dublin, Ireland and currently residing in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. He was the original keyboardist for Irish alternative rock group LiR. LiR (1990s) Hopkins launched his music career playing keyboard in the Dublin rock band LiR. The original lineup was David McGuiness on vocals, Robert Malone on bass, Ronan Byrne on guitar, David Hopkins on keyboards and Craig Hutchinson on drums. The band came together at the Ballyfermot Rock College, and were known as the Spontaneous Frogs before settling on the name Lir. The Killers
The Killers are an American rock band formed in Las Vegas in 2001 by Brandon Flowers (lead vocals, keyboards, bass) and Dave Keuning (lead guitar, backing vocals). "Kashmir" is a song by the English rock band Led Zeppelin. Included on their sixth album ''Physical Graffiti'' (1975), it was written by Jimmy Page and Robert Plant with contributions from John Bonham over a period of three years with lyrics dating to 1973. The song became a concert staple, performed by the band at almost every concert after its release. It has been described as one of Led Zeppelin's two most overtly progressive epics (the other being "Stairway to Heaven"). Composition Page uses a guitar tuning of D–A–D–G–A–D, which he had used for the instrumentals " White Summer" and "Black Mountain Side". The song combines different rhythmic meters: the guitar riff is in triple meter, while the vocal is in quadruple meter.
