Darjah Utama Bakti Cemerlang
The Darjah Utama Bakti Cemerlang ( en, Distinguished Service Order) is a Singaporean national honour instituted in 1968. It was created to replace the ''Pingat Bakti Chemerlang'' ( en, Distinguished Service Medal) and is awarded to any person who has performed within Singapore any act or series of acts which constitute distinguished conduct. It may be awarded to people performing acts of distinguished conduct outside Singapore under special circumstances. The medal of the Darjah Utama Bakti Cemerlang is worn as a neck decoration pendant from a ribbon. Recipients are entitled to use the post-nominal letters DUBC. Wee Chong Jin
Wee Chong Jin (; 28 September 1917 – 5 June 2005) was a Malayan-born Singaporean judge who served as the first chief justice of Singapore between 1963 and 1990, appointed by President Yusof Ishak. Born in Penang, Malaysia, he was the first Asian lawyer to be appointed a judge at the Supreme Court of Singapore. He served in the position of chief justice for 27 years, making him the longest-serving chief justice in the Commonwealth. Early life Wee was born in Penang to parents Wee Gim Puay and Lim Paik Yew. He received his early education at the Penang Free School, and read law at St John's College, Cambridge. He was called to Bar at the Middle Temple in November 1938, and was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of Straits Settlements in 1940 upon returning to Penang. Professor Lim Pin, (born 12 January 1936) was the Vice Chancellor at the National University of Singapore (NUS) from 1981 to 2000. Professor Lim began his career at the University of Singapore in 1966 as lecturer and was later promoted to Professor, heading the Department of Medicine.
