Rubén Darío
Félix Rubén García Sarmiento (January 18, 1867 – February 6, 1916), known as Rubén Darío ( , ), was a Nicaraguan poet who initiated the Spanish-language literary movement known as ''modernismo'' (modernism) that flourished at the end of the 19th century. Darío had a great and lasting influence on 20th-century Spanish-language literature and journalism. He has been praised as the "Prince of Castilian Letters" and undisputed father of the ''modernismo'' literary movement. Life His parents, Manuel García and Rosa Sarmiento were married on April 26, 1866, in León, Nicaragua, after obtaining the necessary ecclesiastic permissions since they were second degree cousins. However, Manuel's conduct of allegedly engaging in excessive consumption of alcohol prompted Rosa to abandon her conjugal home and flee to the city of Metapa (modern Ciudad Darío) in Matagalpa where she gave birth to Félix Rubén. Dario Dicochea, better known as Dario, is an American singer-songwriter and pop/dance artist. Dario grew up in Tucson, Arizona. Early in Dario's career as a musician, Dario started working with Arie Dixon of Tommy Boy Records, who produced Dario's album "The Up Side of Down". Since then, Dario has released an additional five albums. Four of Dario's songs "(Let the Music) Save You", "Try It!", "Point of No Return" and "Shoulda Stayed" have peaked within the ''Billboard'' Dance Club Songs chart in the United States. Ciudad Darío () is a town and a municipality in the Matagalpa department of Nicaragua. It is the birthplace of poet Rubén Darío and the legendary guerilla leader Edén Pastora. Previously known as ''Metapa'' and ''Chocoyos'', Ciudad Darío is located 90 km (about 56 miles) from Managua. History Precolonial In prehistoric times, the area was probably part of an ancient lake, from where the Ucumulali River flowed on its way to the Pacific Ocean. Darío is a crater on Mercury (planet), Mercury. It has a diameter of 151 kilometers. Its name was adopted by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) in 1976. Dario is named for the Nicaraguan poet Rubén Darío, who lived from 1867 to 1916. Darío lies on the western rim of the much larger Aneirin (crater), Aneirin crater. Palazzo Dario
The Palazzo Dario is a palace located between the Palazzo Barbaro Wolkoff and the narrow Rio delle Torreselle on the Grand Canal in the sestiere of Dorsoduro, of the city of Venice, Italy. The palace was built in the Venetian Gothic style and was renovated in Renaissance style. History The palace was remodelled after 1486 by a follower of Pietro Lombardo for the patrician Giovanni Dario, Secretary to the Venetian Senate, diplomat, and merchant. After Dario's death in 1494, it passed to his daughter, Marietta, who was married to Vincenzo Barbaro, the son of Giacomo Barbaro and owner of the neighboring Palazzo Barbaro Wolkoff. Marietta's sons received possession of the house in 1522. Before that time, the Senate rented it on occasion as a residence for Turkish diplomats.
