Darinka Jevrić
Darinka Jevrić (Serbian Cyrillic: Даринка Јеврић; 21 October 1947 – 16 February 2007) was a Kosovo Serb poet. Background Jevrić was born in Glođane (Gllogjan) near Peć. She worked for 25 years as a cultural journalist and critic at the Pristina-based ''Jedinstvo'' newspaper. Her first poems were included in an anthology in 1970. They were followed in her lifetime by eight books published between 1973 and 2006. Her most famous poem is "Dečanska Zvona" ("The Deçani Bells"). At the end of the Kosovo War The Kosovo War was an armed conflict in Kosovo that started 28 February 1998 and lasted until 11 June 1999. It was fought by the forces of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (i.e. Serbia and Montenegro), which controlled Kosovo before the war ... in June 1999, Jevrić was one of the few Serb intellectuals who chose to stay in Kosovo. 2004 Unrest In Kosovo
The 2004 unrest in Kosovo is the worst ethnic violence case in Kosovo since the end of the Kosovo War, 1998–99 conflict. The violence erupted in the partitioned town of Mitrovica, Kosovo, Kosovo Mitrovica, leaving hundreds wounded and at least 14 people dead. The unrest was precipitated by misleading reports in the Kosovo Albanians, Kosovo Albanian media which falsely claimed that three Kosovo Albanian boys had drowned after being chased into the Ibar (river), Ibar River by a group of Kosovo Serbs. UN peacekeepers and NATO troops scrambled to contain a raging gun battle between Serbs and Albanians. Kosovo War
The Kosovo War was an armed conflict in Kosovo that started 28 February 1998 and lasted until 11 June 1999. It was fought by the forces of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (i.e. Serbia and Montenegro), which controlled Kosovo before the war, and the Kosovo Albanians, Kosovo Albanian rebel group known as the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA). The conflict ended when the NATO, North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) NATO bombing of Yugoslavia, intervened by beginning air strikes in March 1999 which resulted in Yugoslav forces withdrawing from Kosovo. The KLA was formed in the early 1990s to fight against Serbian persecution of Kosovo Albanians, with the goal of uniting Kosovo into a Greater Albania. Socialist Federal Republic Of Yugoslavia
The Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, commonly referred to as SFR Yugoslavia or simply as Yugoslavia, was a country in Central and Southeast Europe. Deçan
Deçan, or Dečani sr-cyr, Дечани ; also in use Dečane sr-cyr, Дечане is a town and municipality in Kosovo. According to the 2011 census, the town of has 3,803 inhabitants, while the municipality has 40,019 inhabitants. Geography Geographically, Deçan is located in the Accursed Mountains mountain region. It is surrounded by the Beleg Mountain. History Deçan was first recorded in 1330 in the decrees known as the Dečani chrysobulls as being a village with a population of 89 households, consisting of 623 people. The village was one of many feudal holdings of the Visoki Dečani monastery.
