Darby FC is a Canadian semi-professional association football, soccer club based in Whitby, Ontario and Clarington, Ontario. The club was founded in 2015 to compete in League1 Ontario. The club was formed as a partnership between two local area youth clubs - Whitby SC and Darlington SC. It fields teams in both the men's and League1 Ontario (women), women's divisions of League1 Ontario. Founders The club was founded in 2015 as a joint partnership between Durham Region clubs Darlington Soccer Club and Whitby Soccer Club with the name Darby coming from name blending the two names. Darlington SC Darlington Soccer Club is a youth soccer club from the municipality of Clarington. Its roots date back to the foundation of the Darlington Soccer League founded in 1880; which is argued to be the oldest in Canada. Whitby FC Whitby FC is a youth soccer club in Whitby, Ontario. League1 Ontario
League1 Ontario (L1O) is a semi-professional men's soccer league in Ontario, Canada. The league began play in 2014 and is sanctioned by the Canadian Soccer Association and the Ontario Soccer Association as a pro-am league in the Canadian soccer league system. As of the 2022 season, L1O includes 22 teams. Beginning in 2024, the league will become a three-tier league featuring promotion and relegation. In the Canadian soccer league system, the men's division is behind the Canadian Premier League (CPL). It is part of League1 Canada, the national third tier with regional division, with L1O equaivalent to the Première ligue de soccer du Québec (PLSQ) and League1 British Columbia (L1BC). 2020 League1 Ontario Season
The 2020 Men's League1 Ontario season would have been the seventh season of play for League1 Ontario (L1O), a Division 3 men's soccer league in the Canadian soccer pyramid and the highest level of soccer based in the Canadian province of Ontario. For the first time this year, the league's entry in the 2021 Canadian Championship, the top national tournament for men's soccer teams, was to be determined by a "Champions Final", to be played between the regular season champions and the playoff champions. On March 20, 2020, L1O postponed the start of the season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On June 6, 2020, the league announced the cancellation of the "summer season" while also mentioning the possibility of returning in September 2020 for a shortened "fall season", though this was later ruled out. Taylor Lord
Taylor Lord (born May 30, 1990) is a Canadian soccer player and coach who serves as an assistant coach for the men's soccer program at Seneca College. Club career Lord began his professional career with Portugal FC of the Canadian Soccer League (CSL) in 2008. The following season he signed with the Serbian White Eagles FC, making his debut on June 4, 2010, in a match against the York Region Shooters. In 2010, he had a brief stint abroad in Germany with SV Morlautern, before returning to North America to sign with the Toronto Lynx of the Premier Development League. The Lynx concluded the season by finishing seventh in the Great Lakes Division, thus failing to reach a postseason berth. Shawn-Claud Lawson
Shawn-Claud Nicholas Lawson (born 13 January 1994) is a professional footballer who plays as a forward for Simcoe County Rovers in League1 Ontario. Born in Canada, he represented Jamaica at youth international level. Early life Lawson was born in Scarborough, Ontario, the son of former Jamaican national team player Jimmy Lawson. As an infant, he had an open heart surgery after the doctors had discovered a leaking valve. Lawson started playing youth soccer at the age of three with Ajax SC. Stefan Antonio Lamanna (born 31 July 1995) is a Canadian professional soccer player who plays as a forward. The 2022 League1 Ontario season is the seventh season of play for Women's Division of League1 Ontario, a Division 3 women's soccer league in the Canadian soccer league system and the highest level of soccer based in the Canadian province of Ontario. NDC Ontario defeated Alliance United FC in the final to win the league championship. As NDC Ontario was unavailable to participate in the League1 Canada Interprovincial Championship due to scheduling issues, Alliance United instead represented the league, finishing in third place. The 2021 League1 Ontario season was the sixth season of play (the 2020 season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic) for the Women's Division of League1 Ontario, a Division 3 women's soccer league in the Canadian soccer pyramid and the highest level of soccer based in the Canadian province of Ontario. The league announced a projected start date of July 2, 2021, also announcing a 'drop-dead date' of June 7, 2021 that will confirm the start of the season on that date depending on restrictions in the province, otherwise the season would be cancelled. The 2018 League1 Ontario season was the fourth season of play for the Women's Division of League1 Ontario, a Division 3 semi-professional soccer league in the Canadian soccer pyramid and the highest level of soccer based in the Canadian province of Ontario.
