Daphne (comedy)
Daphne is a British comedy trio made up of comedians Jason Forbes, Phil Wang and George Fouracres. Together they are the creators, writers and stars of the BBC Radio 4 series '' Daphne Sounds Expensive''. Background Forbes, Wang and Fouracres met while studying at the University of Cambridge, where they were members of the famous Cambridge Footlights, co-writing and performing in the 50th annual Cambridge Footlights' Revue, which toured both the UK and the United States. The group 'Daphne' officially formed in September 2014 when the trio began hosting a comedy night called ''Nova Nova'', every other month at the Cockpit Theatre, Marylebone, where they trialled their new material alongside guests, including British comedians Harry Hill and James Acaster. Sketch Comedy
Sketch comedy comprises a series of short, amusing scenes or vignettes, called "sketches", commonly between one and ten minutes long, performed by a group of comic actors or comedians. The form developed and became popular in vaudeville, and is used widely in variety shows, comedy talk shows, and some sitcoms and children's television series. The sketches may be improvised live by the performers, developed through improvisation before public performance, or scripted and rehearsed in advance like a play. Michael Patrick Smith, (born 19 January 1942), known professionally as Michael Crawford, is an English tenor, actor and comedian. Florrie Forde
Flora May Augusta Flannagan ( Flannagan; 16 August 187518 April 1940), known professionally as Florrie Forde, was an Australian popular singer and music hall entertainer. From 1897 she lived and worked in the United Kingdom. She was one of the most popular stars of the early 20th century music hall. Early life and career Forde was born in Fitzroy, Victoria, in 1875. She was the sixth of the eight children of Lott Flannagan, a stonemason, and Phoebe (née Simmons), who also had two children from a prior marriage. By 1878 her parents had separated and Phoebe married Thomas Ford, a theatrical costumier in 1888. Forde and some of her siblings were placed in a convent.
