Gediminas
Gediminas ( la, Gedeminne, ; – December 1341) was the king or Grand Duke of Lithuania from 1315 or 1316 until his death. He is credited with founding this political entity and expanding its territory which later spanned the area ranging from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea. Also seen as one of the most significant individuals in early Lithuanian history, he was responsible for both building Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, and establishing a dynasty that later came to rule other European countries such as Poland, Hungary and Bohemia. The family of Gediminas is a group of family members of Gediminas, Grand Duke of Lithuania (ca. 1275–1341), who interacted in the 14th century. The family included the siblings, children, and grandchildren of the Grand Duke and played the pivotal role in the history of Lithuania for the period as the Lithuanian nobility had not yet acquired its influence. Gediminas was also the forefather of the Gediminids, Gediminid dynasty, which ruled the Grand Duchy of Lithuania from 1310s or 1280s to 1572. Danutė of Lithuania (baptized ''Anna''; – 26 November 1424), was a Lithuanian princess of the Gediminid dynasty and by marriage Duchess of Warsaw. She was a daughter of Kęstutis, Grand Duke of Lithuania, and his second wife, Birutė. Life Very little reliable information is known about her life. Probably between 1371/73 Danutė married Janusz I of Warsaw; two facts that supported this date are: —in 1371, Pope Gregory XI sent a letter to Siemowit III of Masovia, father of Janusz I, urging him not to allow his subordinates to help pagan Lithuanians. Danutė Jočienė (maiden name ''Sadauskaitė'', born November 10, 1970 in Tučiai, Mažeikiai, Lithuania) is a Lithuanian lawyer. Jočienė graduated from the Law Faculty of Vilnius University and worked as a lecturer in the Department of the International and European Union Law of the Faculty. She was agent of the Lithuanian government for the European Court of Human Rights from 2003 to November 2004. Jočienė's professional work has been in the field of human rights law, and she was appointed as a judge and reporter from Lithuania to the second section of the European Court of Human Rights in 2004. She was member of this court up until 2013. In 2014, Jočienė was appointed to the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Lithuania. In 2021, she was appointed to the Court's chairman position and thus, Jočienė became first chairwoman to lead the Constitutional Court. Kazimira Danutė Prunskienė () (born 26 February 1943) is a Lithuanian politician who was the first prime minister of Lithuania after the declaration of independence of 11 March 1990, and Minister of Agriculture in the government of Gediminas Kirkilas. She was the leader of the Peasants and New Democratic Party Union and the Lithuanian People's Party. From 1981 to 1986, she worked in West Germany. She ran in the 2004 Lithuanian presidential election against Valdas Adamkus, hoping to receive votes from supporters of impeached president Rolandas Paksas. She finished in second place in the first round and was defeated in the runoff.
