Newburgh () is a town in Orange County, New York, United States. It forms part of the Poughkeepsie—Newburgh—Middletown metropolitan area, which is a part of the New York megacity, and is a suburban satellite of the urbanized city of Newburgh. The city of Newburgh was a part of the town prior to 1865. New York Stewart International Airport is partially located within the township, and much of the land into which it could have been expanded has been turned into Stewart State Forest. The Hudson River is a river that flows from north to south primarily through eastern New York. Danskammer Generating Station is located on the shore of the Hudson River in the Newburgh (town), New York, Town of Newburgh, New York, United States, upstream of the larger oil-fired Roseton Generating Station. Danskammer 'units 1 and 2 burn natural gas as a primary fuel, and oil as a backup fuel (72 and 73.5 MWe nameplate capacity), whereas units 3 and 4 are exclusively fired with natural gas (147.1 and 239.4 MWe nameplate capacity). The station was built by Central Hudson Gas & Electric in the 1950s, and sold to Dynegy in 2001 as part of Federal Energy Regulatory Commission#History, electricity deregulation.
