Danny Rose (footballer, Born 1988)
Daniel Stephen Rose (born 21 February 1988) is an English footballer who plays as a midfielder for club Darlington, where he is also a first-team coach. A former captain of Manchester United Reserves, Rose joined Oxford United in 2007 following a four-month loan spell. He switched to Newport County the following year, and helped Newport to the Conference South title in 2009–10. He was sold to Fleetwood Town in January 2012, and was part of the side that won the Conference Premier title in 2011–12, before returning to Oxford in June 2013. After a short spell with Northampton Town in 2016, he spent three seasons at Portsmouth and one with Swindon Town before signing for Grimsby Town in 2020. He spent time on loan at Darlington in 2021–22 before joining on a permanent contract. He captained the England C team in 2012. Dean Christopher Holdsworth (born 8 November 1968) is an English former professional football player and manager. As a striker he scored 193 goals in 610 league games over a 22-year career. Despite playing for 16 clubs in 19 spells the majority of his goals and appearances came at Brentford, Wimbledon, and Bolton Wanderers. He is the twin brother of David Holdsworth. As a player, he started his career at Watford in 1986, where he spent three years before signing with Brentford, following a short loan spell. The Football Conference consists of the top two levels of Non-League football in England. The Conference Premier is the fifth highest level of the overall pyramid, whilst the Conference North and Conference South exist at the sixth level. Jim Smith (footballer, Born 1940)
James Michael Smith (17 October 1940 – 10 December 2019) was an English footballer and manager. As a player, he made 249 appearances in the Fourth Division of the Football League, representing Aldershot, Halifax Town, Lincoln City and Colchester United, and played for three-and-a-half years for Boston United of the Northern Premier League. He began a long managerial career with Boston United, and went on to take charge of top division clubs such as Birmingham City and Newcastle United. Smith served as a member of the board of directors of Oxford United for three years from 2006 to 2009. He served as the League Managers' Association's chief executive and was inducted into their Hall of Fame for managing over 1000 matches. He was nicknamed "The Bald Eagle". The 2006–07 season was the 28th season of the Football Conference. Overview This season saw the promotion of Dagenham & Redbridge and Morecambe to the Football League for the first time, whilst Droylsden, Farsley Celtic, Histon and Salisbury City were promoted to the Conference National for the first time in their history. At the end of the season Scarborough and Farnborough Town went out of business, whilst Hayes and Yeading merged to form a new club, Hayes & Yeading United and Moor Green merged with Southern League side Solihull Borough to form Solihull Moors (which took Moor Green's place in the Conference North). Oxford United drew the biggest crowds, with an average of 6,332 spectators and a peak of 11,065 in their match against Woking. Exeter City came second far behind them, with an average of 3,627, just beating Oxford's average with a peak of 6,670 in their match against Southport.
