Danny Johnson (American Football)
Danny Johnson (born November 17, 1995) is an American football cornerback for the Washington Commanders of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Southern and was signed by Washington as an undrafted free agent in 2018. College career He played college football at Southern University and was invited to the 2018 Senior Bowl, becoming the first player from that school to receive an invitation in two decades. Professional career Johnson participated in the 2018 NFL Combine. Johnson went unselected in the 2018 NFL Draft, but signed an undrafted free agent contract with the Washington Redskins soon after. He made his NFL debut in the Redskins' season opener against the Arizona Cardinals. He had a 24-yard kick return in the 24–6 victory. He was placed on injured reserve on December 19, 2018. Cornerback
A cornerback (CB) is a member of the defensive backfield or secondary in gridiron football. Cornerbacks cover receivers most of the time, but also blitz and defend against such offensive running plays as sweeps and reverses. They create turnovers through hard tackles, interceptions, and deflecting forward passes. Other members of the defensive backfield include strong and free safeties. The cornerback position requires speed, agility, strength, and the ability to make rapid sharp turns. 2018 Senior Bowl
The 2018 Senior Bowl was an all-star college football exhibition game featuring players from the 2017 NCAA Division I FBS football season, and prospects for the 2018 draft of the professional National Football League (NFL). The game was the last of the 2017–18 bowl games and the final game of the 2017 FBS football season. It was sponsored by Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and was officially known as the Reese's Senior Bowl. Frequently used in gridiron football, they serve as extra players during the team's practices, often as part of the scout team by emulating an upcoming opponent's play style. Physically unable to perform (PUP) is a roster designation used in the National Football League (NFL) for players who suffered injuries during football-related activities prior to the start of training camp. Players on the PUP list may participate in team meetings, and use team training and medical facilities, but cannot practice with their team.
