Daniil Zhuravlyov
Danila Nikolaievich Zhuravlyov (russian: Даниил Николаевич Журавлёв; born 8 April 2000) is a Russian professional ice hockey defenseman currently playing under contract with Ak Bars Kazan of the National Hockey League (KHL). He was selected in the fifth round, 146th overall, by the Colorado Avalanche in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. Playing career Zhuravlyov played with the Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod hockey school as a teen, before moving to continue his development within Ak Bars Kazan. He made his debut in the MHL with JHC Irbis during the 2016–17 season, scoring 2 goals and 8 points in 35 games as a 16-year-old. Showing a defensive acumen and sound two-way game, Zhuravlyov was promoted to Ak Bars' second tier club, Bars Kazan, the following season registering 2 points in 11 games. Hockey Club Ak Bars (russian: Ак Барс, tt-Cyrl, Ак Барс, en, Snow Leopard), also known as Ak Bars Kazan, is a Russian professional ice hockey team based in Kazan. They are members of the Kharlamov Division of the Kontinental Hockey League. History Founded as Mashstroy Kazan in 1956, the name was later changed to SC Uritskogo Kazan when it entered the Soviet Championship League, Soviet Class B league in 1958. It was promoted to Soviet Championship League, Soviet Class A2, where it gained promotion to the top tier of Soviet hockey. The American Hockey League (AHL) is a professional ice hockey league based in the United States and Canada that serves as the primary Minor league#Ice hockey, developmental league for the National Hockey League (NHL). The World Junior A Challenge (WJAC) is an annual under-20 international ice hockey tournament sponsored by Hockey Canada, the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL), and the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). 2020 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships
The 2020 Ice Hockey World Junior Championships (''2020 WJC'') was the 44th edition of the Ice Hockey World Junior Championship. It began on December 26, 2019, and ended with the gold medal game being played on January 5, 2020. Canada defeated Russia 4–3 to win the gold medal and their 18th world junior hockey championship. This marks the fourth time that the Czech Republic hosted the WJHC. On April 16, 2018, it was announced that Ostrava and Třinec, in the Moravian-Silesian Region in the northeast corner of the Czech Republic, would be the host cities.
