Danielle Gibson (cricketer)
Danielle Rose Gibson (born 30 April 2001) is an English cricketer who currently plays for Gloucestershire, Western Storm, London Spirit and Adelaide Strikers. An all-rounder, she plays as a right-arm medium bowler and right-handed batter. She has previously played for Wales. She made her international debut for England in July 2023, in a T20I against Australia. Early life Gibson was born on 30 April 2001 in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. Domestic career Gibson made her county debut in 2014, for Gloucestershire against Oxfordshire. She scored a duck and did not bowl. The following season, she hit her List A high score, scoring 73 in a victory over Buckinghamshire, and took 3/17 in the same match. In the 2016 Women's County Championship, she was Gloucestershire's leading wicket-taker, with 13 wickets at an average of 9.69, with a best of 4/9 from 7 overs against Norfolk. Western Storm
Western Storm are a women's cricket team representing South West England and Wales, one of eight regional hubs in English domestic cricket. They play their home matches at the County Ground, Taunton, the County Ground, Bristol and Sophia Gardens. They are captained by Sophie Luff and coached by Trevor Griffin. The team is partnered with Somerset, Gloucestershire, Glamorgan, Devon, Cornwall, Wiltshire and Cricket Wales. Originally formed to compete in the Women's Cricket Super League in 2016, Western Storm won the competition twice, in 2017 and 2019. 2023 Women's Ashes Series
The 2023 Women's Ashes series (officially the Metro Bank Women's Ashes Series for sponsorship reasons) was a cricket series which took place in England in June and July 2023 as the 2023 edition of the Women's Ashes. For the series, England and Australia faced each other in one Test, three One Day International (ODI) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The ODI series formed part of the 2022–2025 ICC Women's Championship tournament. A points-based system was used across all three formats of the tour to determine the winner of the Ashes series. In cricket, a batter is not out if they come out to bat in an innings and have not been dismissed by the end of an innings. The batter is also ''not out'' while their innings is still in progress. 2020 Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy
The 2020 Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy was the first edition of the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy, an English women's cricket domestic competition, which took place between 29 August and 27 September 2020. It featured eight teams in two groups, and had a final. The tournament was named after former England captain Rachael Heyhoe Flint, Baroness Heyhoe-Flint, who died in 2017. The competition was won by Southern Vipers, who beat Northern Diamonds in the final. Background and format The Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy was a 50-over cricket tournament created in 2020 so that English women's cricket could be played in spite of the COVID-19 pandemic. 2018 Women's Cricket Super League
The 2018 Women's Cricket Super League, or 2018 Kia Super League for sponsorship reasons, was the third season of the Women's Cricket Super League (WCSL), the semi-professional women's cricket competition in England and Wales. The competition, run by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), consisted of six franchise teams playing in a Twenty20 format. Western Storm were the defending champions. Surrey Stars won the competition, defeating Loughborough Lightning by 66 runs in the final. Women's Cricket Super League
The Women's Cricket Super League (WCSL), known as the Kia Super League (KSL) for sponsorship reasons, was a semi-professional women's Twenty20 cricket competition in England and Wales operated by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). The competition featured six franchise teams, partnered with a variety of county teams and boards and universities, and was envisaged as a means to bridge the gap between amateur domestic cricket and the increasingly professional international game. The WCSL launched in 2016, with each team playing five group stage matches in a round-robin format, followed by a finals day; this was increased to ten group matches in 2018, following the ECB abandoning their initial plans to expand the tournament by also incorporating a 50-over competition. The 2021 Women's Twenty20 Cup, known for sponsorship reasons as the 2021 Vitality Women's County T20, was the 12th cricket Women's Twenty20 Cup tournament, taking place in April and May, with 36 teams taking part: 34 county teams plus Scotland and Wales.
