Dan White (born September 14, 1972) is a former American football quarterback. He was the starting quarterback for the University of Arizona football team from 1993–1995, a span which included the Arizona Wildcats football, Wildcats' only Pacific-10, Pac-10 championship to date, as well as a record-setting Fiesta Bowl victory. High school White began his football career at Point Loma High School in San Diego, CA, where he was the starting quarterback for a powerhouse team that included gifted wide-receiver Brett Callan, as well as future National Football League, NFL stars J. J. Stokes and La'Roi Glover. The team was coached throughout White's four years by local legend Bennie Edens. Wilford Daniel White (born February 9, 1952) is a former quarterback and punter for the Dallas Cowboys and an American football coach in the Arena Football League. He has been the color commentator for Cowboys games on Compass Media Networks' America's Team Radio Network since the 2011 season. He played college football at Arizona State University. Early years A graduate of Westwood High School in Mesa, Arizona, White did not receive a lot of notice while being the starter at quarterback, due to his perception as a better baseball prospect. Daniel J. White (born October 28, 1979) is an American university sports administrator. He is the athletic director for the Tennessee Volunteers. White held the same position at the University at Buffalo from 2012 to 2015 and the University of Central Florida from 2015 to 2021. Prior to his tenure at Buffalo, he served as the senior associate athletic director for Ole Miss. Daniel James White (September 2, 1946 – October 21, 1985) was an American politician who assassinated San Francisco Mayor George Moscone and Supervisor Harvey Milk, on Monday, November 27, 1978, at City Hall. White was convicted of manslaughter for the deaths of Milk and Moscone. White served five years of a seven-year prison sentence. Less than two years after his release, he returned to San Francisco, and later died by suicide. Early life White was born in Long Beach, California, the second of nine children. Daniel Appleton White (7 June 1776 – 30 March 1861) was an American statesman, lawyer, and Judge of Probate in Essex County, Massachusetts during the nineteenth century. He was elected as a member of the Massachusetts Senate and later elected to Congress but he resigned from the position to become the Judge of Probate for Essex County—a position he held for 38 years. Dan White (March 25, 1908 – July 7, 1980) was an American actor, well known for appearing in Western films and TV shows. Biography Early life Dan White was born to George and Orpha White in Falmouth, Florida, one of thirteen siblings. The Whites moved to Lakeland during World War I. By age 14, White was in show business. He left home to travel thousands of miles throughout the South in tent, minstrel, vaudeville and theater shows. Huntertones are an American band formed in Columbus, Ohio, in 2010 by saxophonist Dan White, and based in Brooklyn, New York. Known for their "high-energy, horn-driven sound", the band's line-up also includes trombonist Chris Ott and trumpet/sousaphone player Jon Lampley. Daniel White (1833–1895) was a Union Army officer in the American Civil War from the state of Maine. Biography Born in Winterport, Maine, a suburb of Bangor, White's father was a sea captain. In 1855 he spent a year mining for gold in California, returning to start a manufacturing venture in Bangor. With the outbreak of the American Civil War in 1861, White raised and commanded a company of the 2nd Maine Infantry Regiment, the first regiment to march out of the state. When the unit was mustered out of service in 1863, White returned to the front with the 31st Maine Infantry Regiment, and was promoted to Colonel the following year. During the Battle of the Crater, part of the Richmond-Petersburg Campaign, White was captured by Confederate forces and held as a prisoner of war for seven months, but eventually was repatriated through a prisoner exchange.
