Daniel Trust
Daniel Ndamwizeye (born March 9, 1989), better known in the professional world as Daniel Trust, is an international speaker, social entrepreneur and youth advocate. He is best known for being President and CEO of Daniel Trust Foundation, a non-profit organization that invests in and supports low-income students and teachers who have made a big impact in the lives of their students. Daniel is also well known for surviving the 1994 Rwandan genocide, and sharing his Coming Out story through his speaking career. Daniel has been featured on media such as News 12 Connecticut's "Our Lives," WTNH's "Connecticut Style," WFSB's "Better Connecticut," as well as the New Haven Register, Hartford Courant, Scholastic Magazine, Connecticut Magazine and Fairfield County Business Journal's "40 under 40", and Southern Connecticut State University's Alumni magazine. Daniel Trust Foundation
Daniel Trust Foundation is a youth development non-profit organization founded by Daniel Trust. It was launched in 2009 and provides mentorship and scholarship opportunities to high school seniors and student-selected recognition and funding for high school teachers. The foundation has offices in Bridgeport, Connecticut and New York City, and aims to be a student run organization for students by students. The foundation awards students who have demonstrated academic excellence, activism or community service and commitment to pursuing higher education. The Kathy Silver Award is the foundation's teacher recognition program. In the scholarship application, students nominate an impactful high school teacher who is then considered for the award. It is a 501(c)3 organization with scholars and teacher honorees from Connecticut, California, New York, and Georgia. Gisenyi
Gisenyi, historically rendered as Kisenyi, is a city in Rubavu district in Rwanda's Western Province. Gisenyi is contiguous with Goma, the city across the border in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Overview The city features a resort on the shores of Lake Kivu, with several hotels and three sandy beaches. The area is also known for water sports. The northern shore of the lake on which Goma and Gisenyi lie is a flat plain featuring lava formations from the eruptions of nearby Mount Nyiragongo. In contrast to Goma, Gisenyi escaped the lava flows of both the 1977 and the 2002 eruptions, which destroyed between 15 and 40% of the former. The centre of Gisenyi lies by foothills at the northeast corner of the lake, and low-density expansion is taking place in the hills, which are expected to be safe from future eruptions. Bassick High School
Bassick High School is a US public trade high school located in Bridgeport, Connecticut. History In 1924, the Bassick family home was demolished to begin construction for a school. The E & F Construction Company was awarded the contract after submitting a bid for $692,946. Architect Ernest G. Southey created a Georgian style plan set back 100 feet from Fairfield Avenue leaving "ample room to the south of the school for a large athletic field." Bassick Junior High School opened in 1929 with 1,034 students in grades seven through nine and was soon thereafter converted to a senior high school. Its cornerstone was laid on May 10, 1924, and the school opened on September 9, 1925. The school is named for then recently deceased President Warren G. Harding.
