Daniel Stedman is an American entrepreneur and multi-award-winning film director, producer and writer and publisher. Stedman is the founder of Pressto. Stedman was the owner and president of Northside Media Group until its acquisition, as well as the founder and CEO of ''The L Magazine'' ''Brooklyn Magazine'' and ''BAMbill''. Stedman is an organizer for ''Taste Talks'', SummerScreen in McCarren Park, and the Northside Festival. Early life Stedman is the third child of Barbara and Michael Stedman. His father Michael Stedman was born in the Old Harbor Housing Project on O'Callaghan Way in South Boston and former U.S. Army Reserve soldier with the 94th Infantry. Background Stedman received a degree in physics from Bates College in Lewiston, Maine. He lived at Shakespeare and Company in Paris and at the Chelsea Hotel following his divorce. ''The L Magazine'' was a free bi-weekly magazine in New York City featuring investigative articles, arts and culture commentary, and event listings. It was available through distribution in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, and Hoboken. History ''The L Magazine'' was created in 2003 by brothers Scott and Daniel Stedman and editor Jonny Diamond in Dumbo, Brooklyn. The brothers named it for the L train, a subway line that connects Brooklyn to Manhattan. It ceased publication in July 2015, with resources shifted to sister publication ''Brooklyn Magazine''. South by Southwest, abbreviated as SXSW and colloquially referred to as South By, is an annual conglomeration of parallel film, interactive media, and music festivals and conferences organized jointly that take place in mid-March in Austin, Texas, United States. Jeff Koyen is an American journalist, editor, entrepreneur and investor. In 2017, Koyen was honored by the " Society of Professional Journalists"' Deadline Club and the ''Society of American Business Editors and Writers'' for his investigation into New York CIty's black market for food cart permits, which was published by Crain's New York Business. Biography Koyen was born in 1969 and raised in Parsippany-Troy Hills, New Jersey and currently lives in Brooklyn. He is a graduate of Rutgers University. ''New York Press'' was a free alternative weekly in New York City, which was published from 1988 to 2011. The ''Press'' strove to create a rivalry with the ''Village Voice''. ''Press'' editors claimed to have tried to hire away writer Nat Hentoff from the ''Voice''. Liz Trotta of ''The Washington Post'' compared the rivalry to a similar sniping between certain publications in the eighteenth-century British press, such as the ''Analytical Review'' and its self-styled nemesis, the '' Anti-Jacobin Review''. The Northeast blackout of 2003 was a widespread power outage throughout parts of the Northeastern and Midwestern United States, and most parts of the Canadian province of Ontario on Thursday, August 14, 2003, beginning just after 4:10 p.m. EDT. Most places restored power by midnight (within 7 hours), some as early as 6 p.m. on August 14 (within 2 hours), while the New York City Subway resumed limited services around 8 p.m. Full power was restored to New York City and Toronto on August 16. At the time, it was the world's second most widespread blackout in history, after the 1999 Southern Brazil blackout. Teddy Award
The Teddy Award is an international film award for films with LGBT topics, presented by an independent jury as an official award of the Berlin International Film Festival (the Berlinale). In the most part, the jury consists of organisers of gay and lesbian film festivals, who view films screened in all sections of the Berlinale; films do not have to have been part of the festival's official competition stream to be eligible for Teddy awards.
